Not too much to say about this spot, just solid inexpensive dining. Apparenly I must type more. Service was good, food was greasy (as expected), but good. What else is there to say? Hime Sushi4463 West 10th Ave., Vancouver
Korean Japanese
Submitted Saturday, August 22, 2009 - 7:56pm [Dine in]

If my wife was not Japanese I would not have known, but apparently every single employee was Korean. Despite that fact it was a good lunch experience. The food was not solid along the board. Some highlights however would be the tempura, which was outstanding. The beef teri yaki was also very good, as was the sashimi. The sushi however would have only rated as decent. Between the 4 of us we had 3 different bento boxes, kappa maki, unagi negiri and tamago nigiri. The value and ambience were acceptable, certainly not exceptional, but we did not feel ripped off or uncomfortable.

The service however was outstanding! If I could give them 4.5 stars I would. The moment you walk in every staff member welcomes you. That may change as they get busier during the shift, as we were one of only 4 tables, but it is a nice touch. The waitresses were very attentive without being obtrusive. Finished dishes were quickly whisked away after a quick check to make sure you were done. Tea was frequently refilled as was water, and neither had to be requested! The food came quickly, but not so quick that I'd be suspicious about it being pre made. At the time of leaving the entire staff thanked us for comming, absolutely excellent service!

Strongly recommended.

On On Wonton House5640 Kingsway, Burnaby
Canadian Chinese
Submitted Friday, August 14, 2009 - 11:43pm [Dine in]

We just ordered delivery from this restaurant and are very pleased. If there was a rating between solid and outstanding they would get it. First the food was very good. Not seasoned properly, but better to add salt than to have too much. Second the delivery, the best we've ever had. Not only quick, but friendly as well. I have no doubt that we have found our new Canadian/Chinese chinese joint. Finally we ordered the following, all solid; Wonton Soup, Beef & Broccolli, Prawn in Chili Sauce, Chicken and Cashews, House special Chow Mein, House special Fried Rice and Honey Garlic Spare Ribs.

Gelato Time1110 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Good gelato
Submitted Thursday, March 19, 2009 - 3:33am [Dine in]

This review, unfortunately, is not for me but for my children. On Tuesday I had to go to work (for my tips), and being spring break had the kids with me. So it was ice cream time to compensate for the walk from Broadway station. I usually make ice cream at home, but there is no way I could have done better than here. The variety was very solid, and the service was too. As for the gelato, the kids would not let me have a taste, which is a very good sign (of the gelato, not the kids!) The only possible "bitch" I may have is the price. I work in the industry, and understand food and labour costs, as well as fixed expenses, but $10 for two cones?
