Good Food, but getting a little expensive
Submitted Saturday, July 26, 2008 - 4:46am [Dine in]

I have been a patron of Denny's off and on for the last 8 years and even used to be an employee at the North Vancouver location back in 2007.

I really like Denny's Food, but notice that the prices are getting a little step.

My friend and I decided to take a drive to Surrey tonight, and came to this Denny's location shortly before midnight.

I ordered a double cheeseburger, fries with cheese and one pancake. My friend had eggs and hashbrown.

This is my 2nd entree that I had at Denny's since I had left earlier this year (which would also be my 2nd entree this year)

I was happy with my food. I would have only given the rating of the food a 3.5, but you have to give it a 3 or a 4 and the cheese fries made me decide to round it up to a 4 (the burger was good too as was the one pancake)

Service was just a tad above average. The waitress made some nice small talk which made me happy (it wasn't much, but still nice that she seemed to care rather than just take our plates away without saying anything)

Value was decent considering that this is a restaurant and not a supermarket, though I still think I paid a little too much for one pancake $1.99 and now a double cheeseburger and fries (without cheese) cost $10.29 (plus $1.20 for cheese) after tax and a $4 tip I ended up paying $18.44

I love the Ambiance. It is different than the regular Denny's and has a nice cozy feel to it. LOVE IT!

Well probably be back again, but are in no hurry.

Just okay
Submitted Wednesday, July 23, 2008 - 1:58am [Dine in]

I came to this white spot with a friend tonight, mostly because I like the location and the ambiance. I ordered a double double with an extra patty with fries, and my friend stuck with just the single burger and salad.

The service was just average. come, take your order, take your plates and pay your bill. I really do like thier triple-O sauce on the burger. I would have actually give thier food 2 1/4, but it rounds to the nearest whole number. So thier food was just decent, nothing too special. The value though was good. My bill came to $13.10 after taxes and for 3 patties it's not such a bad deal.

The only thing I really like is the ambiance. The ambiance alone wouldn't bring me back, but the food is good enough, so I will return at some point again.

I was quite impressed
Submitted Thursday, July 10, 2008 - 12:18am [Dine in]

I don't eat Japanese food often, but had decided to come here with a friend of mine last night. I was quite impressed how delicious and cheap the sushi was. I had ordered 2 orders of the chicken Sushi and even after the kitchen was closed, I had asked if I could have another order and they cheerfully made me another order. Terrific. Will be back soon.

Too expensive to return
Submitted Thursday, June 26, 2008 - 5:42pm [Dine in]

This place gives small portions, and I find it to be too expensive. Came here last night with a friend. I had ordered a calamari appetizer, a tossed salad and a cranberry juice. My friend had the same thing, but instead of tossed Salad, she ordred a spinach dip. I was NOT impressed at all with the portion of my calamari. I had mentioned this to the waitress and she brought out another guy (assuming he was the manager) and he said that he could give me a bit more, but that is there serving size (didn't seem that he would be glad to do it) most of the times if I complain about serving size at a restaurant, they usually give me a bit more, without hesitation. I paid $9.95 for a calamari appetizer, and I didn't even get alot, the tossed salad however was a good deal at $1.25 though nothing too special, but good for the price. The Spinach dip could have been a little cheaper, but itherwise good. However, I think I paid way more that what I bargained for.

If you don't mind paying for atmosphere, then this is the place for you, but if you would rather put your money towards food quantity, then just skip this place.

Nice cozy restaurant with good food
Submitted Wednesday, June 18, 2008 - 2:28am [Dine in]

This is the first time coming to this restaurant. I ordered a fettucini alfredo with chicken. Well the food isn't out of this world, but I can't complain about the price (This restaurant would be in comparison with Stepho's in downtown... only smaller....much smaller) but really good for lunch time and hey, why not go for a nice inexpensive dinner as well. You do get your moneys worth for sure and you won't be dissapointed.

Very happy and very amazed
Submitted Wednesday, May 28, 2008 - 1:19am [Dine in]

I have not been to this restaurant since I have graduated from High school back in 1999. Today I had decided to come with a friend. I was very happy. Though the service was only decent (decent is actually only 2 stars) The food was terrific, and I was amazed. Just a tad expensive. I suggest if this is your first time, you go on a Tuesday, the pasta is only $7.95 then, and then you can decide if paying full price the rest of the week is worth while (would I go on another time????? probably not)

However as far as food goes, it is really terrific.

Unfortunatly the service wasn't as great as the food was. The waiiter we had was great, but the other guy who seated us toke about 10 minutes, even though he said it would be 5, and when he passed by us, he never acknowledged the situation. I definbatly would LOVE to come back again for Pasta Tuesdays. You definatly get your moneys worth coming on a Tuesday, aster that you can decide if you are willing to spend extra the rest of the week.

Amazing and Delicious
Submitted Wednesday, May 14, 2008 - 1:02am [Dine in]

My friend and I went to White Rock today for the day, and were looking for a place to eat. We went to the Pier on the beach but found the food there to be expensive for what it was (I am not interested in paying extra for my meal because it's near the beach) So originally we were thinking of doing our usual IHOP or Earls, but then came across this restaurant, and decided to give it a try. I am glad we did.

The food was amazing, I order a double 1/2 lb burger which came with coleslaw and fries, my friend ordered the linguine with shrimp. I only had BBQ sauce and mayonaise on my burger. The burger was FANTASTIC, although I am not a big fan of BBQ sauce I decided to try it with my burger anyways, still tasted ok, but next time since I am not a fan of BBQ sauce I will have it without and I am sure I will like it even better. I also had a bit of her linguine and I found that too be spectacular.

The Ambiance is awesome. They even have a built in fire place, which really made our visit here nice.

The service was just okay. We were forgotten a couple of times and had to wait for the waitress for a bit to come take our order (though she did say she would be a little while, so that was appriciated)

I definatly plan to return to this restaurant (and hopefully soon)

Well at least the service was great.
Submitted Monday, April 28, 2008 - 9:30pm [Dine in]

I can actually count the number of times, that I have been to Boston Pizza. This was the first time ever being at this location. The service was fantastic and the server was attentive, and kept checking up on us and asking if I would like more re-fills. I ordered the fettucini Alfredo and a cranberry juice, my friend ordered a pizza Alfredo. When our food came it looked appetizing. I actually had less than half a slice of her pizza and I actually liked it. I ate some of my fettucini Alfredo and it was bland (all I could taste was the noodles) I had mentioned this to my server and he said he would get the kitchen to bring me a cup of Alfredo sauce since it seemed dry. He brought me a HUGE cup of Alfredo sauce, but unfortunatly it was not too much help (maybe it helped a little bit) My friend said however that her pizza was bland too and couldn't taste the sauce. unfortunatly the food was not good. The service however was fantastic. Asides from the service, nothing stood out that would make us want to go back. However, I am hoping that it was just an off day, and I am sure that we will be back to give it another chance.

Food is great, service is not
Submitted Thursday, April 24, 2008 - 4:30pm [Dine in]

This place used to be Sui Sha Ya, until they changed there name to Shin Ju. As far as all you can eat goes, it's pretty much identical to how it was when it was Sui Sha Ya (I don't want to say the same for sure)

Let's start off with the bad news first and then get to the great news.

The service here sucks. Usally if want to order seconds, you have to waive down the waitress, and also if I am out with a friend, and we order the same dish (assuming though they only do it when it's all you can eat) then instead of bringing up 2 separate plates, they usually only put it on one.

The Good news though is, that the food is great, and you really do get your moneys worth. The food really does make up for the crappy service. The ambiance is ok. I am rating it 2 stars, because it's not all that bad, (the waitresses are really friendly and I enjoy talking to them)

I usually prefer going to the Sui Sha Ya in Metrotown or Richmond, ONLY BECAUSE I am not a big fan of that part of West Broadway. but if I don't have a car, or just don't want to travel far and just be somewhere on Broadway, then I definatly will be back at this location in a matter of seconds, and yes, I would recommend them except for thier service (though thier service is friendly...so that's a bonus)

A friend and I were driving around Surrey and Langley last week, and we happened to pass by this restaurant. This was the second time I had been to this restaurant. I ordered PLAIN spaghetti and a Calamari appetizer. We came about half an hour to closing, so my friend and I were the only patrons in the restaurant, which made the service really good. Though I didn't find the Spaghetti to be tasty (given that I ordered it plain) I was IMPRESSED with the Calamari, seasoned well, really tasty (I couldn't believe it) I never had Calamari taste so good. My friend had the same thing (except no spaghetti) and if I remember correctly, I think she enjoyed it as well. I live in Vancouver, but I definatly plan to return to this restaurant.
