Octopus Garden1995 Cornwall Ave, Vancouver
Over priced let down
Submitted Sunday, June 10, 2007 - 11:03pm [Dine in]

We stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around Kits for the first time. What a gorgeous area! Octopus Garden looked intriquing and we entered famished. We were warmly greeted and after browsing the menu assumed we were in for a treat, albeit expensive. Only the latter proved true as the food turned out to be mediocre. The sashimi salad lacked in every way possible and was quite simply boring. The specialty rolls that we ordered were okay but not at that price. When we requested basic hot sake we were told that only premium sake was available at over $30 for a small 300ml bottle. In the end a very plain mediocre sushi dinner at a high price. Not worth it. The ambiance was nothing spectacular but nice. Service was attentive and good overall.

As good as they say!

Since coming to Vancouver we have heard alot of suggestions about where to eat out. Stepho's was one of them, and I'm glad we went. The food was not high-end by any means but neither were the prices. For the money this place is a deal. The service was excellent, with the food arriving only moments after we ordered it! There is alot to be said about food that arrives piping hot. Our waiter was also quite attentive. What more can you ask for @ $7.99 for an entree! A thumbs up for Stepho's!

Bistro Sakana1123 Mainland Street, Vancouver
A Pleasant Surprise
Submitted Wednesday, March 7, 2007 - 2:22pm [Dine in]

We moved to Vancouver from the U.S. about 1 month ago and have been checking out the local restaurant scene since then. Bistro Sakana was a pleasant surprise. The quality and freshness of the seafood we had was notable and the food presentation was creative and colorful. We particularily liked the crunchy rolls, spicy tuna crepe, and raw oysters. Service was good but a little slow. We obviously are not alone in our appreciation as the place was jam packed. We will definitely be back! Thanks Sakana!
