My wife and I tried this spot for the first time on Saturday. Only open for a week and they were very busy. They don't take reservations but we got a great table by the window. The food was outstanding! Salad of grilled radicchio and pears, followed by some delicious Arancine and a filling White Bean and Hamhock soup. we both had pasta as the server told us they are hand-made in house. My wife enjoyed a Chevre-stuffed Ravioli with pesto and I devoured a Braised Lamb Agnolotti. Tremendous! We are returning this week for the pasta again but I'm looking forward to trying more from this kitchen. Note: Very reasonable wine prices. We were very well looked after by our server. For only being open one week, it looks like these folks know what they're doing. Bravo.

Although we found the atmosphere a little stark, we were served an excellent meal at Chow last week. The service was friendly and professional. However I detected a note of "attitude" from the bartender, I think this place is too new for him to be snobby.
But, the food won us over, every dish perfectly executed and incredibly tasty!
Another great addition to the area around Broadway and Granville.

Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio, served with caperberries and parmesan, with an amazing truffle aioli, and little crostinis, the best I've ever had!
The soup was a roasted garlic and potato puree, velvety smooth and rich.
The Caesar salad was of the grilled variety, but they make the garlic butter croutons to order!!! and OMG I'll be back for that dish!
The tender Scallops were caramelized, tender and juicy, cooked just right, served with a tuna brandade and sherry vinaigrette. Serious food here shows a serious talent in the kitchen.
Beef Tenderloin with a mushroom demi, cooked to perfection and accompanied by an incredible little goat cheese souffle.... bliss!
The Miso-marinated Sablefish was the best I've ever tasted, with a sweet onion puree and a red wine sauce, (I think) sounds odd but a fabulous combination.
The Mushroom and Truffle Risotto was a clear winner as dish-of-the-night, with an assortment of mushrooms, and a small cress salad on top, you could see the flakes of truffle in the risotto, and just the right amount of truffle oil to make it fragrant without being "sleazy" as truffle overdone can sometimes be.
We also had an amazing Beef Shortrib, fork-tender and rich-flavoured, served with a decadent macaroni and cheese in a small dish. This food makes me want winter all year just to taste this much pleasure!
The desserts were fabulous!
The place was buzzing all night when we visited, and the eight stool bar was full of diners. A great atmosphere for a date.
I live nearby and am embarrassed it's taken me this long to eat here. (They've been open since 2003) Cru is on top of my list right now... I can't wait to go back!
