American Grille Restaurant7571 Westminister Hwy, Richmond
Was skeptic

I went to the American Grill with my boyfriend last night and used the Entertainment coupon. I wasn't expecting much, since I have driven past this restaurant many many times on my way home, and it never looked too busy. When we went in, we were told to wait 5 mins because they were catching up on serving some tables. When we were finally seated, the waiter was apologetic, and from then on, the service was incredible.
Our waiter was courteous, friendly and just top notch. It's the kind of service you'd expect in a classy, glamorous restaraunt.
My boyfriend and i shared a seafood chowder and steamed mussles. They were absolutely delicious! For entrees, he had the rib eye while i had the rack of lamb. I loved my lamb. It was tender and cooked to perfection. The Rib eye tho was a bit over cooked. My boyfriend asked for rare and got a medium instead. But overall, it was still good.
I would definately go back to this restaurant. They have a wide selection of drinks and cocktails. It would be a great place to relax with some friends and drinks.

I went to William Tell during Van Dine Out. From the outside atmosphere, I was expecting a high end restaurant with snooty waiters. Was I wrong!! Not only did I receive great service, the food was awesome and the ambiance relaxing. The lobster bisque was exquisit!!! The sable fish was a bit salty, but the service made up for it!! My overall rating is due to the excellent service I was given. I will definately return!

Worst Experience EVER!!

The 1st time I went, due to their no reservations policy, we were put in a 3 hour line up. We decided to come back another day instead.
The 2nd time we decided to go, I went extra early to get a table for 6 people. I was seated right away. While i was waiting for the rest of my party to show up, i ordered a drink. After setting down my drink, my waitress asked if I was ready to order. This was surprising since the table was set for more people. I told her i'd wait. She came back 15 mins later, and asked the same question! I was starting to feel pressured, that i was holding the table, altho the restaurant was empty except for another few tables. When my friends arrived, they were asked if they wanted a drink to start off. They said water for now, since haven't had a chance to look @ the menu yet. The waitress replied "sure. Water" & rolled her eyes before turning away. Throughout the night, her service did not improve. I had ordered a starter Caesar salad, but was delivered a entree size. When i asked if the order was correct, the waitress who brought it told me all Joey's salads are large and that it was the starter size. Of course, when the bill came, i was charged for a entree. Informing our server of this error on my bill, i was asked "but you did eat the salad?" in a tone suggesting since i ate it, it was MY mistake. Finally, after explaining it was another waitress who reassured me the salad was right before i ate it, she sighed and went to change the bill.
There was so much tension whenever our server came to our table. My friend was afraid to ask her for a steak knife & ate her steak with a butter knife. I was completely appalled @ the way we have been treated. My friend had emailed them regarding this awful night, & they did call to follow up, promising gift certificates etc. It has been 2 months and none has arrived yet, altho, i would NEVER, free or not, go back to be treated badly again.
