Cascade Room, The2616 Main Street, Vancouver
Not Impressed
Submitted Monday, July 26, 2010 - 1:57pm [Dine in]

Had heard great things about The Cascade Room so I was looking forward to an end of the work week drinks and nosh night. We were greeted and seated promptly which for a Friday eve 7-ish was great (3 of us). The server was prompt with coming over and taking our drink order. Our food order was taken soon after. I ordered the duck breast and both of my friends ordered burgers. One burger was ordered with no dairy products (ie no cheese, dry bun). We finished our drinks. My duck and a burger came out and then it was about a few minutes delay for the second burger. Right away I thought that was strange. The server didn't even say pip about the second burger coming out late. My friend, no dairy burger, picks up her burger and she sees an ooze of cheese on the side of the patty. She flips the patty over and sure enough, cheese had been put on the patty, scraped off and the patty flipped over to try and conceal the kitchen's mistake. She called the server over and told her that some cheese must have gotten on her burger mistakenly and the server makes the fakest face ever of 'really, how weird, how did that happen...'. no apology given.

All they had to do was come out and say 'so sorry, we accidentally put cheese on your burger. we're just making you a new one. It will be out shortly'. Instead, they tried to save a few bucks and didn't care if the patron had a food allergy.

Regardless if the drinks are good or even if the food is good, I wouldn't patronise an establishment that operates like this.
