I live nearby and have popped in a few times for lunch and dinner over the last few months. Some of the dishes were great (steak sandwich to name one), and some, meh...(faux asian/indian, tasted like they were store bought and microwaved) table services was OK, as they are usually very busy so no surprise there. I've sat at the bar and the service there is friendly and prompt. Note to management - staff up on the weekends and evenings, please. Overall a good place to meet up with friends or to grab a quick bit when you're too lazy to do your own cooking/dishes.
I've read a few reviews here about the poor service so was a little hesitant when my friends suggested it for a brunch date. well...we got there 10AM on Saturday, no line up so was seated immediately. We took our time with the menus but were not rushed, and we ordered our various breakfast favourites (bennys, pan cakes, scramble), and the food came fairly quickly and was faultless. Not excellent (as one reviewer noted below, it's not a 4 star restaurant now, is it), but perfectly reasonable. The service, while not stellar, was also acceptable. So for the price point and neighbourhood, a solid choice overall.
Went there with a friend on a Tuesday night during Dine out...found the restaurant half empty, which may be more a sign of the times than a reflection of the restaurant's quality.
Our greeter and server were pleasant and prompt. Surprised me a bit that while no one was sitting at the bar, the TV was on, and my companion compulsively kept glancing at the screen. Ruined it a bit for me, I think. Ambiance on the whole was OK, a bit drafty, but the place was half empty afterall.
We started with the beef carpacio (decent) and seafood chowder (pretty good, maybe a bit too much pepper), then for main course we had the chicken (really good, but the risotto was under-salted) and steak medallion (beef was a bit gristly, potato was COLD!!). For dessert we had the chocolate mousse (standard issue) and creme brulee (the top was completely burnt and bitter). Wine pairing was not exceptional. that's a 3 out of 6 for me...50%! Barely passing.
I'd have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the whole expericence. I'm all about the quality of the food (will put up with crappy service if the food is excellent). For such a slow night, and during Dine Out when you're suppose to showcase your restaurant to bring in more clientele, Bogart's simply didn't cut the mustard.
I may come back to give them a second chance after dine out, as it's pretty close to home, and try something on their regular menu.
