I went this last Tuesday. I don't know if my mood was set on "I enjoy everything" but this place was not that bad at all. The prices certainly are high but the ambiance and the service where EXCELLENT. I can't say it was the best salmon wellington I'd ever ate but the piano music and the wine where (i guess) some of the things who made me like this place. Not recommended for cavemans bronto-burgers-eaters like, just regualr people who wants to have a glass of wine with some food.
This place is becoming a "rendez-vous" spot for the latins who live in the dowtown area. You can see a lot of young spanish speakers packing the place. That speak out by itself! The flavour of the food is the closest to the real mexican dishes. You can try the taco pastor or the chilaquiles those are everyones (I asked) favourites! So if you looking for a place to EATwell this is the place, otherwise if you want sombreros, pinatas or zarapes for decoration go somewhere else.
I'm feeling good not being the only one who felt sick at the other day after eating here. The prices are a bit high for our expectations. I order the tortilla soup, PLEASE dont do that. The taste was... asian flavoured chicken soup with raw torillas and pieces of the worst part of the chicken.
Then I tried the chorizo with cheese, that indeed was cheese but without chorizo! Instead a different kind of tasteless sausage. The people I went with ordered soft quesadillas, they had KFC-taste-like-gravy at the top and the side beans smelled and tasted funny.
The only thing I can recommend fot this place is the cafe de hoya.
The decor was outstanding, is the typical mexican restaurant for tourists. You should try it if you want to drink Corona or Pacifico beers.
