Really good BBQ
Submitted Saturday, January 31, 2015 - 3:45pm [Dine in]

This place is the River Market at the New Westminster Quay is must try restaurant. They started as a food cart in Vancouver and moved to a Brick and Mortar shop after their food cart got hit by a transit bus.(no joke). They have delicious pulled pork, brisket and the cripiest fried chicken I've had. I've also tried the pastrami and chili cheese fries, biscuits.... Uh I think I've tried everything on the menu. The point is that they do food really really well. Check out fried chicken fridays. They put their bucket of chicken with slaw and biscuits on sale. Oh and why not pick up some bacon for Saturday's breakfast while you are there.

Royal Tandoori Indian Restaurant83 6th St, New Westminster
No trouble writing fifty words on why you shouldn't eat here
Submitted Saturday, November 30, 2013 - 8:25pm [Take-out]

Wanting a quick snack and craving veggie samosas I called Royal Tandoori and ordered two for pickup despite the cost ($3.50 for two). The lady on the phone said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I gave them an extra five minutes and arrived 20 minutes after placing my order (you could literally wrap and make fresh samosas in that amount of time). When I arrived (to an empty restaurant at dinner time on a weekend), the server said to have a seat and that my order would be ready shortly. From my seat, I had a good view of the kitchen, where I could see the chef changing channels on the TV.. shouldn't he have been making my samosas? When I inquired about how long it was going to take, the chef came out of the kitchen and rudely told me 5 minutes. When I asked why it would take so long, he became aggressive yelling, "fine, if you don't want them, get out!'. So, I did. It was a very unsettling experience and obviously, I will never go back. Oh.., and the lady up the set of stairs from the register doing her ironing was also weird. I've never been in a place with so many people(5 plus 'the chef') hanging around and no food getting made, Truth.

Veggie Samosas mmmm
Submitted Saturday, November 30, 2013 - 8:17pm [Take-out]

Two for a dollar veggie samosas and fast service does it for me. The samosas are more of a mashed type if you know what i'm talking about. They also sell sweets here, which I've tried some of... They are across the street from the shopper drug mart at 152st and fraser highway. Dinehere makes you write at least fifty words so I'm doing that.

Delicious Thai
Submitted Thursday, July 11, 2013 - 9:44pm [Dine in]

The food here is consistently good. We've tried curries, spring rolls, rice and pad thai. The yellow curry is great and we like the sapparod a lot. Spring rolls are deep fried, nuff said. We have eaten in and ordered take out. The restaurant has a nice interior with lots of rich wood which makes for a welcoming and comfortable space. The staff is friendly and calm. We will continue to frequent this eatery.

Great Mexican food in New West
Submitted Thursday, July 5, 2012 - 6:58pm [Dine in]

I discovered this place the day it opened last year. My girlfriend and I frequent this spot. The service is friendly. The food is well seasoned, nicely prepared and freshly made. We love the Choriqueso and Fish tacos the best. We have tried most of everything on the menu over the past year and it is all really tasty. We go at least twice a month, be warned however the fresh-made salsas can be pretty spicy. This spot is always a good meal and a good value.

Make sure to try the Flan for dessert.

Wanted to like this deli but raw bacon? come on......
Submitted Thursday, July 5, 2012 - 6:51pm [Dine in]

I work in Langley and I am always on the lookout for a good place to eat. I found this small deli recently, my first experience there was just fine, a simple beef dip sandwich, nothing weird there.

However, my second visit I ordered a turkey club. The turkey club comes on a cheese bun and is packed full of meat. Here is the weird part: Instead of crispy bacon as one would expect on a club, there were two large pieces of UNCOOKED BACON. I brought my sandwich back and asked about the mistake. The lady behind the counter replied "It's cooked, I cook it before I cut it, the bacon just looks raw, don't worry, you won't get sick."

When one sees RAW WHITE FAT on bacon, one can tell it hasn't been cooked. Any amount of heat will start to render the fat out of bacon, there was clearly still completely unrendered WHITE FAT on the two thick slices of bacon.

No solution or substitution was offered by the staff other than 'I should eat the sandwich'. I can tell you I left the sandwich on top of a nearby garbage can and went back to work hungry. Two thumbs down. I guess Ill have to make the farther trip to the much better Deli nearby on the Langley bypass

If I could give this place 1 star across the board on dinehere I would.

Always solid
Submitted Saturday, October 23, 2010 - 4:15pm [Dine in]

Joey's always offers an extremely high quality guest experience. Their strongest point is the consistent tasty food, quality service, and good atmosphere. I rate this restaurant heads above other moderately priced 3 ring binder style eateries, such as Moxies, Earls, Milestones, Browns etc...
Joey's does not offer baby, or child seating in their restaurant. Kids are great. But, I appreciate the calm dining experience this policy creates. Joey's belinis are fantastic, as are their desserts. Servers are highly trained and round out the experience nicely. Great for lunch or dinner.

Downside? There can be a long wait for tables during busy hours.

In the mood for Great Indian food? This place is it! Taste of Punjab offer many Veg and Non-veg options. The owners are very personable and run the restaurant well. Dining in is enjoyable and Take out is always great. We love ordering many of their dishes, such as: Paneer Makhani, Saag Paneer, Naan, Samosas, Pakora, Chana, Daal, and Lamb Tikka Masala. We also like that their jamine rice is scented with saffron. Close to a skytrain as well.

Horseshoe bay excellence
Submitted Saturday, October 23, 2010 - 2:06pm [Dine in]

Dropped into Ya Ya's after surveying the area for good eats. The menu was very appealing. Lots of delicious seafood options. Our meals were all excellent. Our table ordered the Ya Ya baked oysters platter. Salt Spring Island mussels, fish n chips(we chose yam fries), Seafood curry fettuccine and a Chicken Ceasar salad. For dessert we tried Creme Brulee, and the day's special: homemade chocolate cheesecake. Everything we tried was excellent and skillfully prepared. Definitely my choice for best restaurant in Horseshoe bay.
