Don't go Here If You Don't Want To Run Into Friends
Submitted Saturday, April 2, 2011 - 6:48am [Dine in]

The place is packed. It was jam packed yesterday. Apparently, they get all the local lunch crowd. I was having a quick lunch with the lady I am seeing near her work. They are that busy. Go early if your girlfriend wants asian food! I had the red chicken curry and the most odd chicken nugget-type things. (apologies for not remember the name). Those nuggets were tender, juicy, savoury little pillows of deep fried weirdness. The curry was ok as well, maybe not perfectly balanced between the salty, sweet, sour and spicy intensity.
We werent out of there as fast as we wanted because we had the afternoon to ourselves.

The good and the bad.. Kef

Talk about a meat market.... oh yeah, this place has steaks too.

Thursday -- time to celebrate the almost-weekend!

Hint: Book a meeting in your calendar so you can duck out of work discreetly... then run to grab an empty table!
Or to reserve your standing space at the bar.

I can't comment on the decor because all I saw were suits.
A gigantic crowd of suits...which can be fun, depending on your scene.

Anyways, the Keg is the happening place for an after work drink.
Appetizers are always good. The menu is extensive and you can't go wrong with nachos and calamari.

I enjoy dinners at the Keg, but I've never felt this location was actually for dining, more like hanging out, getting your drink on, and trying not to lose your Blackberry.

Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House777 Thurlow Street, Vancouver
Agree with the other reviews: disappointed

We went to Joe Fortes because we needed a relaxing pub style restaurant and they advertised seafood and drinks. The outside looked nice enough and the hostess wasn't half bad looking. But here is the real deal: what girls in mini skirts? None of the waitresses were dressed in an attractive fashion. Maybe waiting for the summer? The patio was closed of course (and no heaters). The oysters were fine but expensive. The decor was well appointed. Wine's mark up was outrageous. White wine is how much? I mean they dont even have good looking ladies working there. OK, to be fair some were good looking but they werent flaunting.
Anyway this evening the oysters and wine came to $80 for two. Next time me and my bud will just walk down to earls or cactus Club or just a get a drink at a pub nearer to work after work. However for fans of oysters you can count on the correct oysters available here and they would be fresh.
