Great view from the patio, bland, overpriced food
Submitted Monday, June 30, 2008 - 9:42pm [Dine in]

We had a nice table on the patio overlooking the water on a hot, sunny early evening. We had the lobster corndogs and the surf 'n turf to start. The lobster corndogs were fun and quite tasty; the surf 'n turf was pretty bland. We then had a dozen oysters - good! For our main course, we ordered the halibut and the prawns and scallops. The halibut was good, the potatos served with it were not so good. The scallops and prawns were alright. Kinda pricey for two prawns and two scallops though. It was served with some very bland, cheesy orzo. The best part of the night was the wine. Our server was a little ditzy but it was entertaining.

stunning!

Bacchus has one of the most beautiful lounges. The fireplace was lovely, the seats were comfy, the decore is, like the previous poster said, timeless and the piano player was amazing. The drinks were good, the lemon/lime tart w/ sorbet was incredible and the service was very good. Overall, one of the best nights I've had in a long time.

and lots of 'em! Felt like they were hovering around us, took away our dishes before we were done. Food was mostly good. You have to know what to order. The assorted carpaccio was GOOD! The prawns and calamari were very good! The pumpkin croquette was good in a weird kinda way. Wouldn't order it again. The steamed mussels were quite bland, the cabbage roll tasted like it was stuffed with SPAM and the pickled veggies in rice wasn't good. The rice was hard and crunchy (stale crunchy). Loved the atmosphere. It's loud, fun and everyone around you is having a good time.

I remember it being better
Submitted Wednesday, March 12, 2008 - 7:16pm [Dine in]

We used to do dim sum at Pink Pearl all the time when I was a kid. I remember it being a lot better than it is now. The food was all right. My problem with them is that the same stuff came around the whole time we were there (1230). There were also crusties in my bowl and tea cup, yuck! I prefer that International Chinese place on Hastings. Lots of variety and cheaper too!

REALLY Good!
Submitted Wednesday, February 13, 2008 - 8:40pm [Dine in]

We visited this White Spot after a day of snowboarding. We were SO hungry! We were seated promptly and our server came by shortly after we were seated. I ordered my usual, veggie burger w/ OOO and the classic plate. My guy ordered the 6oz burger w/ fries, the western plate and a chocolate shake. This is by far one of the best experiences we've ever had at a white spot. The food was sooo good! Fries were crispy. Service was fantastic.

Really wanted to like the place
Submitted Monday, January 21, 2008 - 6:50pm [Dine in]

We dined here on Saturday night for Dine out. Arrived at 7 and was seated almost immediately. Our server was great! He was very pleasent, smiley and helpful. I really wanted to like the food but it was hard to. The pakoras were served cold. Not sure if they were supposed to be like that but it would have better hot (or at least warm). The chutney was good. I had the chicken for my main and my dinner date had the lamb. The chicken was acceptable, the rice was not. The rice tasted like it was sitting around uncovered for a while. There were hard chunks of it. The lamb was said to be tender and flavourful. For dessert, I had the pecan tart and my dinner date had the cheesecake. The tart isn't a tart. It's more like a tort and was mushy. The cheesecake was smothered in mango sauce that overpowered the flavour of the cake itself. The dine out menu needs some work. Their regular menu looks good though. May return when dine out ends (no regular menu during dine out).

Felt Rushed
Submitted Monday, December 24, 2007 - 12:54am [Dine in]

We got there at about 745pm. It was Sunday night so it wasn't overly busy. I'm thinkin' they were short staffed because our server was running around like crazy trying to attend to everyone. It took her a while to get to us and once she did, she was good. My dinner partner had the roast lamb. It is said to be tender and flavourful. I had the calamari dinner. The calamari was bland, the rice is different from what I'm used to at a greek place (had peas 'n stuff in it), the potatos were sliced into medallions (which is also different. I prefer the fingerling potatos cooked in lemon juice and butter!) and tasted deep fried. Drinks were fine. Wine is priced well and was good with dinner. I don't think I'll be back simply because there are better greek places around.

Small portions
Submitted Sunday, December 16, 2007 - 8:39pm [Dine in]

For $10-12 a dish, I expect more than half a chicken breast and fresh veggies. Fish pakoras were good - spicy! Samosas were all right. I'm used to having samosas with chutney; they serve theirs with a side of chick peas. We ordered bombay chicken. Dish was good. INCREDIBLY small though and not as spicy as we like our indian. The veggie korma was not good. The sauce was okay but they use frozen veggies! Very disappointed. For $11, I expect LOTS of fresh veggies. The rice wasn't fresh. Lots of hard clumps and the naan bread was bleh! The best part was probably the chai tea and the pompadoms they give you before you get your food. Indian oven is still my favourite Indian place.

Service was great
Submitted Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 12:11am [Dine in]

I wasn't expecting much from the old spaghetti factory. The last time I was there, the food and service was average. This time though, the service was great! We were a party of 30 and the server was right on the ball! Quick, friendly and didn't miss a beat. Although some of our dinner guests didn't enjoy their food (the pesto linguini was dry) I loved my entree. We had the chicken strips to start. A little greasy but good. The veggie lasagne was great! Soooo cheesy. I was so full by the end of my meal I couldn't have the ice cream.

Nice place, bland food
Submitted Monday, November 5, 2007 - 2:00pm [Dine in]

Perhaps we ordered the wrong stuff. We found the dishes here very bland. Everything needed more flavour. The portions are huge though and the staff friendly. Pricier than some of the other dim sum places but very clean and comfortable. This is one of those order from a sheet of paper type of place. I prefer places with carts so that I can see what it looks like before I order it.

Great atmosphere! I must say though, food at Hapa is much better. We ordered their Ebi mayo. Way too doughy! I took the batter part off and smothered the prawns with the mayo! Much better. Their dragonball roll was good! Very fresh and delicious! Spinach salad with scallops lacked flavour but was fresh. Really enjoyed their sashimi salad. Servers were friendly enough.

Surprisingly clean
Submitted Monday, September 10, 2007 - 11:40pm [Dine in]

We visited this restaurant on Sunday night at about 5pm. We got there just before it got super busy. I was surprised to see how clean the place is.
We ordered some dry mixed noodles with seafood. They accidentally gave us egg noodles instead of rice noodles. The noodles lacked flavour. Next, the lemongrass chicken. Very good. Love the grilled flavour! We also had the chicken wings. They're not what we expected. Yes, they were crispy and hot, but they're full of MSG and super greasy. We must have had three glasses of water while we were there then had to go get a bottle after we left.
We found the servers quite pleasent. They refilled our waters and checked on us regularly.

Mmmm...cheesecake
Submitted Tuesday, September 4, 2007 - 8:52pm [Dine in]

They have the yummiest cheesecake here. I'd say about five different flavours. Lemon is my favourite. Their peanut butter chocolate mousse cake, lemon mousse cake and the concorde are some of my favourites.
The place is a little small and cramped and always busy when we're there. Fortunately, we only ever get stuff to go. The servers are friendly.

Best delivery!
Submitted Sunday, September 2, 2007 - 10:18pm [Dine in]

Delivery is always quick, hot and delish!
Their butter chicken isn't on our list of favourites but their lamb korma rocks! Their chicken vindiloo, tandoori chicken and samosas are YUM! You must have their spinach naan bread! They even deliver dessert! The mango ice-cream with pistachios and almonds is mouthfuls of sugary goodness.
The delivery guy is always friendly. We've only ever had delivery here and walked by the place a few times; so, one of these days, we're going to have to actually go into this place for dinner.

Don't think they were too pleased...
Submitted Sunday, September 2, 2007 - 10:04pm [Dine in]

we arrived at about 1030pm on Friday night. They close at 11 so I guess the hostess/server were bothered by us late diners.
The room had a good vibe to it and the food was okay. Not very mexicany, in my opionion. The dry chicken dish looked sad and tasted even worse. They served it with a salad that looked like it came out of a package, some black beans and a weird sauce. The chipotle prawns were good though; they were juicy and had a nice kick to them. The mango and jimica salad wasn't good at all. Too much dressing, barely any mangos and LOTS of lettuce. Their ceviche gave me a tummy ache. Loved their pineapple margarita!

Huge, delicious portions
Submitted Monday, August 27, 2007 - 9:01pm [Dine in]

We've become regulars at this little mexican place. We go there for their cheviche and their delicious chicken breasts. Their enchiladas as also very good. My boyfriend can usually finish his meals there but I always end up taking at least half of mine home.
Drink wise, I would suggest you stay away from the blended drinks (especially the pina coladas). When they brought me my pina colada, it wasn't the white, coconutty, creamy drink that I love. It was sort of off-white, thin, chunky and just didn't taste right. The boyfriends gynormous corona would have been a better choice.
Service is good. No complaints there.

Service here has always been better than many other chinese places in town. Each time we're there, we always manage the get a smile out of the servers. Service is promt and the food is very good. The congee always brings back memories of when my mom would make me congee on the weekends when I was a kid. Their soupy noodles are also on my list of favourites as are their spicy tofu triangles.
Parking's a pain in the butt though. They must have the worst parking lot in the city.

sunday brunch
Submitted Tuesday, June 5, 2007 - 8:30pm [Dine in]

We were there for Sunday brunch last weekend. I'm guessing they were understaffed because it took forever for us to get service. We tried to be sympathetic to the poor girl looking after us because there were probably 30 people in her section and just her looking after us. She was sweet and all but definitely flustered. After she took our orders, the food showed up no more than 10 or 15 minutes later. She did manage to check up on us a couple of times and we could tell that some of the other people in her section were angry at her. The crepes were DELICIOUS! The view was excellent and we really liked the inside of the place. They have an omelet buffet that looked great (with fruit and pastries) for $16!
We'll go back for brunch again another time. Hopefully, they'll be well staffed the next time we're there.
