Recommended by a friend to go. I anticipated great things from this restaurant. As soon as I walked it, it had a decent dining atmosphere. But that was the end of it.
We happen to be seated beside another table who ordered after us but for some reason got their meals before us.
The food was subpar. the soulvaki was dry and tasteless, the rice pilaf was mushy and looked like it was sitting in a steamer all day and the roasted potatoes (more like mash). Overall, the food was poor...very.
To top it off, the service was horrible. The server never acknowledged us and passed a fake smile. She didn't bother to apoligize for finally serving our meal 30mins later after we ordered, not that we complained. She didn't give us pita bread which was complimentary and said "Oh, did you want any with your meal?" She messed up 2 other tables as well, and I can overhear another table complaining about the service and negotiating pita bread. Strange how the table beside us ordered after us received their appy and meals within 15 mins.
I'm not sure if she was having an off day or what, but it was the lousiest service I've ever experienced and we felt like second class citizens.
Ok, this is a rant, but honestly, this is a place I will never recommend to friends and family. Period.

I've been to Athene's many times and each time I am never disappointed. They have always been consistent and food quality is always excellent. My favorite is the roasted potatoes that come with most dishes. Amazing!!! The rice pilaf is never soft and mushy like other places, and their soulvakis are never overcooked and dry. Service is as good as it can be depending on how busy it is, but doesn't compare to the worse ones out there. There is a coupon in the entertainment book, so go try it out.
