Destroyed after a fire!
Submitted Thursday, November 12, 2009 - 3:42pm [Dine in]

I heard on the radio this morning that a fire on main and broadway has destroyed this restaurant along with kishu island, slickety jim's and a coffee lounge. This is so sad because these restaurants have been landmarks on main street. I hope they can recover soon! Best wishes to all those affected.

White Spot1476 Kingsway, Vancouver
awesome christmas dinner!

I went to white spot with my parents on dec. 23 of last year and the food was excellent! The ambiance was a bit run down but overall, a truly fascinating experience! It's best to make a reservation before going because otherwise, you'll be waiting for up to an hour or more to get a seat. It's that crazy, lol! Fortunately for us, we made a reservation for 7pm and when we got there, we got seated right away which was good because I saw other people line up all the way out the door. I was like, what a relief! lol!

a difficult encounter to bubble tea!
Submitted Monday, January 29, 2007 - 12:31am [Dine in]

I had the green apple green tea with pudding jelly and it was definitelly an different approach to bubble tea! It was ok, but the pudding tasted like tofu dessert with some stale taste in it and there wasn't any green apple flavour in the drink at all! However, it's drastically different from bubble world and I would come back again to try the bubble teas with different condiments this time, like composite jelly! The food was decent, but the only thing i truly liked was the taro crepes. At the end of the dinner, the bill came to around 30 dollars which wasn't too bad considering the two of us, me and my dad. I would definitely go again because of the contrasting nature of the drinks compared to bubble world. Even though my drink wasn't up to my expectations this time, I found their vast selection of drinks to be overwhelming and I would try some more to satisfy my bubble tea crave! The service could do some upgrading because I always had to ask for bowls, napkins and utensils.

switch of owners
Submitted Friday, January 26, 2007 - 2:22pm [Dine in]

I've been here before and the food was not very good. Recently, I heard from my friends that the main chef from goldan swan restaurant bought this restaurant to run it as an independent restaurant. News that the new restaurant will open in march. So, so long to wong gok restaurant. It's officially closed down for good! Hopefully, the new restaurant will be better than the old one!

Havana Restaurant1212 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
wasn't up to my expectations!
Submitted Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 10:38pm [Dine in]

I decided to try this place out tonight and I was a bit disappointed! first of all, the menu selection was small and the only thing that interested me was the ensalata havana! the food portion was so small that I had to order the daily soup before I was a bit satisfied. overall, the ambience was good and the soup was delicious but the entree weren't up to my expectations. If i were to go again, I'm going to try the burgers cause these were a lot bigger(I saw people ordering them beside me and they came on a large plate) compared to my entree, which consists mostly of salad with some measly chicken portions. Not worth the money if you just have entrees.

blown away...

The food was fantastic although for the tempakoras, I didn't really like the mint yogurt sauce. Great price for such a big meal. I had kashmiri chicken and tempakoras. Totally awesome! If you are hungry and want to try a variety of different items, then come to sash.
