the phillies are good ,but are expensive two sandwich a order of fries and two drinks 42 bucks for counter service OUCH ! I guess thats why the place always seems to have more staff working than customers and at this rate I dont see much of a future for this place as last friday they had 6 staff working and only 5 customers and with all the press this place has had and it still sits empty poor location choice I think also as it near crack alley central I wonder who's poor idea it was to open there and im sure they are regretting it right now!
we went last night party of 5 we sat waited for service 5 minutes.....6...7...8...14. finally
bottom line was our drinks took for ever and the food and pizza was borring .did someone say card board crust? do they even try to use fresh herbs are a bit of seasoning in the crust ? nope the water said it was just flour, water, maple sryup and yeast ,dont they know you need salt in pizza dough?
we went for dinner four of us had a pizza a starter not very tasty and we had two bottles of wine which where served way to warm after that we decided not to chance other stuff as we all ended up at Earls around the corner which we had a great meal and a chilled bottle of wine.
well if they dont want us to hate on it they should get their act together as the place known for bad service and the ever rotating kitchen [eople as I never seem to notice the same face twice.
We had brunch on the long weekend and spent $ 50 for the thrre of us we had to coffee and one tea each and of course a awfull omlette which was burnt we could of had a better breakfast at subway where they nuke their eggs and still teaste better than THE WHIP
I think the the whip needs a good whipping as the place is on life support!
well the food here is so bad it tast like a card board box along with that the place is so dirty and the carpet patches are ripped and filthy I hate when restaurants dont even try to be creative at all and this one of those
places.the guy serving drimks behind the bar came in from a smoke break and didnt even wash his dirty hands and it looked like he didnt shower in weeks.
We had the oysters to start and chowder they where dreadfull after that I wanted to really just leave ,but I was in with friends from out of town so we orded more we had a 22$ pizza next it was dry and covered in cornmeal . I would not recomend this to anyone as our bill for bad food service was over 200$ and get this we only had one drink each and no dessert .
went for lunch on friday waited for ever for our drinks then the food we ordered took 63 minutes to get we had a burnt pizza with next to no topping a a price 18 = bucks and a pasta with scrambled eggs (carbonara) and proscuitto and it had zero flavour and was watery
bottom line dont go unless you like slow bad food!
why is it that all the places on Davie street - the Score,Fountian Head, Moxies,Speak East and now The Junction Public House all have the same menu?????????
here was a chance for a new place to get it right but they put in there cookie cutter menu just like there place a few blocks down the street The Calling House The Donnelly Group is now the owners
and should know that Davie St is in need of a good place that actually has a creative menuwith good food .
this could be such a great spot but is in need of a make over from top to bottom .Themenu is a mixture of Joey's like potato spring rolls , but here they sell them as a starter? the ret pack art is way out dated and there never seems to be anyone there and I think he is changing chefs at a weekly rate( only if the menu could change that often.
wow!! new managers new floor staff and even slower service
whats up I hear they cleaned house a brought in all new staff
which is slower than ever , . when we complained about our cold food the new floor manager talked to us he was wearing a old t shirt and runners and looked like he was up from the night before he must be straight out of Surrey and who puts pictures over drapes?
there really is nothing special about the place mini burgers(welcome back to burger king burger bundles of the 80's) its basicly a little Earls with store bought everything from fries to burger patties I wish places would take more pride in serving food that is made in house and not from the back of a Sysco truck , I sure hope they get their kitchen inline so they stand out and not just blend in eith all the other box stores, good luck they will need it if they want to stick around.
wow ordered two roast lambs to go one was the a tiny piece and the other was one was bigger but had a huge bone and was 50% fat
there was next no flavour you really cant complain about the price but you sure can if you getting food that you cant even feed to your dog. Now I know why the line ups dont seem to be there anymore.
had good mussels there last week and great mixed drinks its good to see its still busy after all these years. My main complaint would be the bad choice of music way too much rappy stuff that doesnt go at all with the mexican theme. Will be back later in the spring for some more mussels and please bring back brunches as davie street has no good places for breakfast.
wow all they have is mushroom, swiss, cheddar and bacon for a place that all they serve is burgers its kind of said and my burger looked like it was flatened by a frying pan my fries where ok but only little pieces non more than two inches long.
They best get better toppings like maybe blue cheese and a few other types of cheese if they expect to be around in a year with Vera's only 50 feet down the street and Hambuger mary's in the next
block.I wonder why they made the kitchen so big and the seating area so small??????
well went there for lunch saturday it has to be the dirtiest place ever as there is holes in the bathroom wal and no soap or paper towels and garbage all over the floor and the staff are so unkept to the seats are ripped and my food consisted of uncooked hash and scrambled eggs that where like rubber and not scrambled at all I will never be back as I dont want to risk my health eating in such a dump.
why do they have dry spices and herbs in the window next to a bag of bread that sits on the floor? YUK for a place to showing of their dry hebs and spices is tacky and right next to the window where the absorb moistue. The foods ok been there three times prices not bad I wish Davie street had better restaurants to choose from as all there is is asian or greesy spoons.
well they are done now after all the years of success they made changes that didnt work like making the food portions smaller doubling prices and taking all my favourites of the menu.
Why do people have to mess with formulas that work only to mess them up id beyond me I wonder what it will become?
a sushi place I bet that wont last.
this place should be a gold mine but yet seems to be a very
poorly operated place nothing solid about it .
Maybe and update atleast the 80's would be in order for this place as it seems to be stuck in the 70's still with its lack of creative menu and they are trying to be to fancy with their wording of the menu.
I have been there a couple times and I would say the food never stands out the flavours seem to be lacking on all levels . I have a feeling this place will not be doing well with the down turn in the
stock market and there menu is alot like their other place ocean 617 the person behind these places must have deep pockets as either place ever seem to be that busy.
wow their menu is all over the place, why not do less items and try to specialize on a few good things instead of a bunch of bad to okay things and the menu is not very creative its basic bar food
with a touch the 80's time for a update I dont know how the owners can think the kitchen can do like 80 items and keep the quality up?
