Could have been better
Submitted Tuesday, August 5, 2014 - 2:28pm [Dine in]

While this place is highly rated as one of the best for Afghan food in Vancouver, I would have to disagree. I have been to other Afghan restaurants and they did not taste like a mediterranean/Greek spin off! This cannot be the best that there is in Vancouver.

Don't get me wrong; some of their plates, like the lamb shoulder, were good but, it just didn't taste Afghan. And for the prices being charged, I think I deserved better. I mean, some of the food seemed to be prepared haphazardly: the rice was a little hard and seemed to be undercooked.

I don't mean to be entirely negative, as there were some good things about this restaurant as well (service, environment) but for me, the food was a deal breaker.

Disappointing experience
Submitted Wednesday, July 30, 2014 - 9:02am [Dine in]

Based on the positive reviews I found here, I went to Kobe for some good food. But what a bad dining experience it was. We had made a dinner reservation for 7 pm, but when we arrived, we had to wait for another thirty minutes or so to get seated. Really? Then what was the whole purpose of making a reservation?

The food is overly priced here. And even bland. The hibachi steak I ordered lacked seasoning and was quite bland. I know that in restaurants like these (Benihana, etc) we also pay for the show that is put on by the chefs, but this was simply missing from our chef. Our chef did not put on much of a show and was extremely sloppy. I don't know if it was because he was tired or something, but given that each one of us paid $70+ for our food, it was disappointing.

Tasty Indian food
Submitted Tuesday, July 22, 2014 - 2:37pm [Dine in]

One of the best Indian meals I’ve had here in Canada. Decently priced, the food was extremely tasty and fresh. I had the lamb saag as was blown away by it. The spinach added just the right touch to the dish. The chicken vindaloo was no less; the curry sauce was very creamy and good.

As for the service, it was spot on. The waiter would come just at the right time, either to refill my glass or when either or my friends would want another serving. Prices were fair so I’d come back.

Nice Greek Food, yet bad service
Submitted Friday, July 18, 2014 - 9:35am [Dine in]

I am having mixed feelings about my lunch at this restaurant. Lets start with the good points first: food.

The Greek platter was pretty good. You can find the typical Greek food here like tsaziki and souvlaki. I played it safe and ordered exactly what the waitress suggested: lasagna and garlic bread. I'm glad I did though, because I thoroughly enjoyed it. One thing I must comment on are the portion sizes. The sizes of the portions served here are no where near small so I'd recommend coming here on an empty stomach.

As for the bad points: service, service service. Service was sub-par however. The restaurant was kind of full but I got my order wrong TWICE, and when I told the waitress she simply didn't respond and disappeared! I had to ask another server to get my food. This kind of service makes one simply not want to come back.

Clean sushi place
Submitted Friday, July 18, 2014 - 8:59am [Dine in]

Came here with a friend who lives in Vancouver and is a regular at this place. The first thing I noticed was how clean and well kept the sushi place was. Even the bathrooms were impeccable.

I ordered the tuna tataki and firecracker roll. The sushi here is fresh and tastes amazing. Yes, it is kind of expensive, but “you get what you pay for”. I guess my expectations for this place were exceeded, which is usually not the case. I would come back for more rolls. The service was quick (for us), our food came in under 15 minutes of ordering it. I am a rather impatient person so for me this was a plus.
