Food was ok, service was not great
Submitted Friday, June 15, 2007 - 12:57pm [Dine in]

Went to Hamilton Street Grill in Yaletown for dinner last night. They had a special on steaks $10 for a sirloin which was a good deal. The service was overall lousy, we made reservations and still had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The reason is the servers are so slow to get to your table to help you and serve you food. The beer we ordered took literally 20 mins to arrive. The food was not bad the sirloin steak was a little chewy and the caesad salad had a strong garlic taste to it. The Yam Fries were very tasty and I highly recommend them. Overall not a bad experience besides the slow service

Hit and Miss
Submitted Monday, May 28, 2007 - 12:22pm [Dine in]

This sushi joint tucked away on Westminsiter Highway is hit and miss. Sometimes the food will be fresh and delicious and sometimes it will be average.
The service is also up and down as food comes quickly sometimes and takes an eternity at other times. Parking here is also a huge headache so it might not be worth the trouble and better sushi can be found elsewhere.

Great Cambodian/Vietnamese Food

This place is a true diamond in the rough. Once you try the food you will be hooked. I always go there when in the area to get a delicious bowl of soup noodles (the Beef Balls with soup noodle are awesome)

I also really enjoy their Steamed Rolls and Springs rolls which definetely make the trip to this side of town worthwide. I reccomend this place to everyone i know and I wish they would open another location in Richmond.

Cheap Eats, Bad Service
Submitted Friday, May 4, 2007 - 3:49pm [Dine in]

I tried out this Italian joint in New West after hearing a few things through the grapevine. And I had a mixed experience.
I found it to be a good deal as they offer a daily early bird special where alot of their pasta dishes are very reasonably priced at 8.95 for a large plate of food. This is a small joint so I was glad we made reservations before going. But if I knew what I was in store for I probably would have driven a bit further to go to Anton's. The service was horrible the entire evening, first they argued over which waitress was responsible for helping us and then when we finally got a waittress and ordered the food it took forever. You would not imagine this considering all I remember is servers running around this place like a madhouse. A couple next to us stated they were in a rush and were forced to leave without a meal as their food took forever and they had somewhere to go. When the food did arrive I found Pesto I ordered to be swimming in oil and lacking favour. Overall a good deal if you are looking for cheap eats but the service is definetely terrible and will keep me from wanting to go back.

Sub-Par Pho in Victoria
Submitted Thursday, March 1, 2007 - 12:24am [Dine in]

This place is family run and the service reflects this. Food came extremely slow and our Pho soup orders took 20-30 minutes to be prepared. The pho noodle soup is heavy with MSG and does not taste like authentic Pho at all. The noodles were stuck together and appeared to be not fresh.

The Spring rolls were average and the cleanliness of the restaurant made me wonder about the last time the food inspector had been there. Overall a decent meal, but I would rather go to the Pho Hoa chain across the street next time i crave pho in Victoria.

Decent Mexican Food
Submitted Thursday, March 1, 2007 - 12:18am [Dine in]

Decent Mexican food in Victoria. The food is pretty good comparable to the Mexican joints in the Lower Mainland. The decor is not that great, gives off the Mexican feel though.

I would go back when on the island for a decent mexican meal.

Overpriced
Submitted Thursday, March 1, 2007 - 12:05am [Dine in]

Tried this place for the first time and the food I found was average and overpriced. It was tasty and spicier than I thought it would be, but definetely overpriced for Asian Noodles.

Nice atmosphere and decor but that does not warrant the price.

Good Dim Sum
Submitted Friday, January 12, 2007 - 1:11am [Dine in]

Large seating area means it is usually not hard to get a table, but it can get quite busy on the weekends so if you are a big party reservations would a good idea. Dim Sum is tasty but the selection is limited, they do not change their menu often and if you go back expect the same food. They often give regular customers a discount on the food and tea which might explain why the previous poster said food prices differ. Overall good Dim Dum experience and I would definetely go back.

Best fast Food Jap in Vancouver
Submitted Friday, January 12, 2007 - 12:00am [Dine in]

It's cheap, it's fast and its run by Japanese students. Food here is really cheap and for $10 you can fill up on a great meal for lunch or dinner. Also a great place to get a snack before the Canucks game. I always stop here when in the area and wanting a quick meal.

Going Downhill fast
Submitted Thursday, January 11, 2007 - 11:55pm [Dine in]

This used to be one of my favorite chains that I could rely on for a good meal. I have noticed their food lately has been declining in quality and is just not the same as it once was. The service as always has been hit and miss and every 6 months now they seem to put out a new menu in order to raise their prices. It was a big dissapointment dining there last and I doubt I will be back any time soon. A once great Burger from Milestones is now average and their famous curly fries are no longer crunchy or up to the standard I knew and loved.

Overated Food Good
Submitted Thursday, January 11, 2007 - 11:51pm [Dine in]

dined there last week and while the food was good the
service was beyond abysmal. I have never had absent service like that in any restaraunt. I usually get similar service albeit better service at the HON's chain. We were seated by the hostess and then had to ask for menus and then had to ask to place our order and then the wait staff brought the food and then we had to ask for the cheque. No interaction at all from the wait staff as to how the food was or explaining menu options or refilling water or offering dessert. Next time you are in to visit them keep that in mind. We will not be giving them a second chance. We stopped in to FUEL next door afterwards and the staff were warm and friendly even though they had just opened the day before.

Good option sometimes
Submitted Monday, January 1, 2007 - 11:25pm [Dine in]

I have been here quite a few times. Typically the food is quick and decent for a fast food japanese place. There are the odd times though when food takes forever and seems to never be ready. For take out order in advance for that reason, but if you are eating in be ready to wait as this happens once in a while. Overall good express Japanese for what you are paying for.

Really nothin else for lunch
Submitted Monday, January 1, 2007 - 11:22pm [Dine in]

On this side of Richmond there really is not much for lunch and Buns Master perfectly shows that. They over price their food and offer service knowing people in the area do not have much options for lunch. Sandwiches are really expensive and the hot food they offer is minimal and does not cut it. Now that a Quiznos is opening down the road I see their lunch traffic dying down.

Submitted Monday, January 1, 2007 - 11:13pm [Dine in]

I usually head to Tanpopo for late night eats as they offer all you can eat at a reasonable price that includes sushimi after 10pm. The service has been both bad and good but mostly good. The food is typically fresh and i cna't complain when i get all you cna eat sushimi at a reasonable price.

Submitted Monday, January 1, 2007 - 11:09pm [Dine in]

This family run business is always busy but for a good reason. Their Large sized Pho Noodle Soup is huge and will definetely get you full off a big bowl of soup, beef and noodles. The atmosphere is not great but everyone goes for the authentic food which is second to none. The spring rolls are crispy and always fresh and you will be full when you leave this place.

Great Greek Eats
Submitted Monday, January 1, 2007 - 11:05pm [Dine in]

I have been to Opa a few times now and I have yet to be dissapointed. The portions are huge and well worth the price. I usually have the Roast lamb which comes on a full plate with a greek salad, potatoes, rice and pita on the side.

For appetizers the Kalamari is awesome and if you are with a crowd get the appetizer platter to share as it gives you lots of yummy greek appies for a reasonable price. Great place hidden away the traffic of the city.
