good prix fixe menu
Submitted Sunday, April 20, 2008 - 2:44pm [Dine in]

Heard about this place from friends and had to try it out. Since I knew about the prix fixe menu that is what me and my friend had.

The selection was good on the menu and the items are things that also show up on the regular menu.

Another friend had complained to me that he found the food too salty but what I selected was fine ( black cod)

The ambience is quite trendy and I kept thinking it looked very James Bond's like in the room. Its quite large and the orange wall was quite 60ish.

Would go back and try out the regular menu

Didn't get a chance to order, service lousy
Submitted Monday, March 31, 2008 - 8:20pm [Dine in]

After a little shopping on South Granville, decided on a late afternoon snack (4pm). I have walked by this crepe place numerous times and decided to go in.

Had to get the attention of the wait staff to be seated, she was too busy chatting with a coworker. I don't think I am invisible but guess to her I was.

Once seated had to get the attention of another waitress. She was serving a table of six across the narrow way but ignored us even though that table was not decided on what to order.

After 15 minutes of being invisible, we decided to walk out.

It was not busy so not sure why the waitress was so slow, she had a chance to take the drink order at least and then come back to the party of 6.

The success of a good place is price, food, service.
The crepes looked great but the service was so poor I don't think it a go for me.

The food and tea was cold
Submitted Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 4:16pm [Dine in]

Had gone last year for dine out and found it quite good so decided to do it again, it was the same menu as last year. This time the impression was not as good.

We were seated near the bar and everytime the door opened it was freezing, so ask for a seat in the inner part of the restaurant.

Since it was so cold needed some tea to warm up but the water was tepid and had to ask for them to give us hot water.

Our selections did not come piping hot. My friends indicated their soup was lukewarm and my oysters was also cold. We then waited a while for the entrees. From my seat I could see dishes piling up in the kitchen.

I was also disappointed with the tirimusu, this time it was kind of soggy.

As for service, our busperson (she) was very efficient and friendly but our waiter could have used a personality fireup. It took a while for him to come to the table to take our order (about 10 minutes, after we were all seated) and during the meal he seemed kind of bored - just going through the motions of serving.

Don't know if we will go back again since my other 4 friends were not overly impressed.

Trendy but delicious

Another winner in the Dine out list. For $25 this is a good way to test out some of the finer and funky places in town.

Our server was very friendly and prompt. The food was flavourful and the portions were more than enough. The coffee in separate pots was a nice touch.

This is definitely another restaurant to go back to outside of the dineout time.

Nice room and food
Submitted Monday, January 21, 2008 - 4:16pm [Dine in]

Tried out this place for dine out 2008 - was very surprized I like it considering other friends have said its very noisy, but being a Sunday night and we had a early dining time 6:30 maybe thats why it was nice. The room is nicely decorated and we were placed up on the 2nd floor. I think downstairs would have been a bit more high traffic and noisy. I enjoyed the dineout menu and will definitely go back to try the pasta dishes, on the way out the smells from the open kitchen was very appetizing.

food is good but kind of noisy
Submitted Monday, January 21, 2008 - 4:11pm [Dine in]

Went here on friday for the dine out menu. Its was a good menu but the ambiance of the restuarant is kind of hard to pinpoint. We were put right at the entrance so it was a pretty busy spot. I have sat in the back during previous vists where it is more like a restuarant vs a bar and the music was loud and went from headbanging to jazz.

The food was solid and tastly but in the future I would ask to be put at the back of the restaurant. The mussels are definitely the menu item to ask for at this establishment.

nice place for italian
Submitted Monday, January 21, 2008 - 4:04pm [Dine in]

A friend from Seattle wanted Italian food when she was up visiting in early January. I have been to Amarcord for dine italia and for dine out in 2007 and both times the food has been great. We had a table for 5 and each person ordered different items off the menu. The ceasar salad was light flavourfull. We had 2 pasta orders that were awesome (pesto sauce, seafood spicy linguine), the daily meat (duck special) and 2 veal dishes (1 with fois grois) that was very good. The best part of the meal was the dessert, their tirimusu is probably the greatest I have tasted in this city. I would highly recommend this restaurant and with the ent card its even a better deal.

good eggs benny & service
Submitted Wednesday, January 2, 2008 - 6:20pm [Dine in]

Decided to try out this place from the last time we walked around Broadway. It was sunday at 12 noon and we waited for 10 minutes and got served real fast. The eggs benny are pretty good - you can have half and half, which is a good way of trying out their menu. The service was quick and cheerful. Coffee was not that strong but the food was comforting. Other patron food orders around us looked good. Definitely another place for breakfest.

With all the write ups about this new restaurant I was expectng great things. It was all very good until a friend asked for a coffee refill and was told that we had to leave since our table was needed, this was 8:30.

This was a bad note to the end of a very nice meal. A little bit of warning at the 8:00 mark would have been nice. One of our friends told our waitress about this (she was wonderful and efficient) and came back to apologize. The other server/manager did not do this personally he told her to say he was stressed. Still the delivery of the message would not good.

2nd chance
Submitted Thursday, June 7, 2007 - 7:34pm [Dine in]

I had gone during the Jan 07 dine out to find out what all the hype was about this restaurant. At that time I thought the food was okay but not stupendous.

I have it another try last week and was not impressed. We had the chef's tasting menu and I found it kind of lackluster. One friend wanted a salad, but this is not on the menu, they did make something up.
I found the food hade too many weird combination of tastes. The best item was the seared ahi tuni, but the savoury icecream added on top was not a good complement.

As for the main course the veal tournades were kind of cold when the plates came to the table. One person had the halibut and another ordered the tenderloin on the menu, both did not have any complaints.

Since we had 2 people that were lactose intolerent I would have expected the server to find something that they could have even if it was not on the menu. Nope, they still got the rubarb item with ice cream.

Service was okay.

Disappointed again, so no repeat visit for me, I think twice is enough.

2nd time in 2 day
Submitted Thursday, June 7, 2007 - 7:26pm [Dine in]

Went to accents on Friday night for a quick dinner and it was. I have not been here for over a year but the food is solid but the service could be a bit slower. Taking the order was no problem but service of the food was a bit quick. This place gives you good value for the money with a re-useable entertainment coupon.

We did go again the next night (Saturday) for a late mother days celebration and was able to use the ent coupon. Once again food was good but service was very fast. I should not complain since slow service at restaurants are usually a problem. But overall I enjoy coming to this restaurant.

Highly recommended for large parties since the menu has a bit of everything for everyone.

Submitted Tuesday, May 15, 2007 - 4:11pm [Dine in]

After reading the reviews on this site I expected not a very good dinner but was pleasantly surprised. The Salmon Wellington is probably the best item on the menu. Our party of 10 had 3 ceasar salad and entrees. We ordered from the fresh sheet - smoked black cod, mahi-mahi and ling cod. There was one boulibasse and the rest were Salmon Wellington. No dessert since we were too full. The service was very swift and pleasant. Prices are high but for taking out of town guests the scenary is great.

Mosaic Bar and Grill655 Burrard St, Vancouver
nice place for birthday celebration
Submitted Friday, April 13, 2007 - 4:51pm [Dine in]

Having a birthday club we celebrate every 3 mths, with the birthday person choosing the venue. We usually try to go to restaurants we would not frequent on a normal basis and look for SET menu's or special deals.

Our friend found a good one at Mosaic. There were 6 of us, and 5 had the set menu (I think it was $45 pp) and this was for 4 courses. I highly recommend the crab cakes, I picked off a friend's plate since I had the tuna carpacio

Our server was very efficient, knowledgeable about the food and wine pairings.

The dessert was to die for and since it was a birthday they gave a very big chocolate cake to share which we thought was the dessert but we also got a dessert sampler and then found out we also got a choice of dessert which we opted to take home.

A great choice for a special occasion

korean bbq not bad
Submitted Friday, April 13, 2007 - 1:23pm [Dine in]

We stumbled onto this restaurant after reading a review in the dinehere site. Its located on North Road in the old Ichibankan Japanese restaurnt. Two of us went on a tuesday night and it happened to be all you can eat korean bbq grill. It was pretty decent for under $20.00, I think normally you order off the menu and the grill dinner ranges from $16 to $20.

They limit you to 1.5 hours but that is more than enough time to eat.

Service was prompt and they come back to check on you, check on the grill, cut the meat up and lay it on the grill. English is a bit limited but the service was good with a lot of nodding and pointing.

Would like to try out the other korean dishes on the menu.

not bad considering what I read
Submitted Wednesday, January 31, 2007 - 3:12pm [Dine in]

I went during dine out last week on a thurs night. It was quite busy for a 6pm reservation. Friends went the friday before and found the portions small and the food was okay. I was disappointed with the inability to get a Ceasar drink from the bar. The room is small and we were smacked close to the couple next to us. It was hard not to listen to other's conversations. Portion were small but it is a tasting for $25. I may go back when they have the bar in order. We had a very charming waiter who understood my disappoint with the bar selections.
