Cupcakes on Denman1168 Denman Street, Vancouver
Service - not the greatest
Submitted Wednesday, February 18, 2009 - 11:08am [Dine in]

After reading the reviews - I would have to agree with most people that the service at the denman locaton sucks! And now they have opened a robson and thurlow location and the service sucks there too! When you walk in the decor and ambiance is so bubbly and fun - you can't wait to bite into a sweet sugary, icing topped chocolate mocha cupcake - but that is only if someone is willing to help you (lol). I did notice that most of the staff looked about 20-30 pounds overweight - hey I would be too if I worked there, I mean you have to sample the product in order to advice your customers right. So, with that said, I'm very glad that the service at these locations sucks, because if it didn't I would be in there every day buying about a dozen of those mini cupcakes and I too would be 20-30 pounds overweight!

So Dissappointed
Submitted Monday, December 8, 2008 - 10:48am [Dine in]

- The hostess or server messed up - and what was supposed to be a dinner for six turned out to 2 dinners - our party was split up - 1 dinner for 2 and the other for 4.

Yes I know - in a day in age where everyone has a cellphone we should have exchanged numbers - but we didn't and when we rely on the service at Sammy J's - well don't because they just screwed up - All of us were really looking forward to seeing each other - both party's ended up waiting and waiting - Service completely sucked!!!!

Server's try to push the Share Plates
Submitted Thursday, November 27, 2008 - 3:32pm [Dine in]

We went to this restaurant back in August of 2008 and I was really upset with the end result. I planned my sister's stagget and we decided to go to sanafir's for dinner. The server started out with suggesting the tapa style where they bring out sample dishes that everyone gets to try and explained that it would cost around $35.00 per person. They did explain that there is a menu option but with group our size it would not be recommended. It was obvious that they were trying to push the tapa style thing.
There was about 10 girls and the total bill came to around $750.00!!!! (not including tip) We did order shots and a couple of drinks but $750.00 for a group of 10 girls, when they originaly quoted about $35.00 per person? What?
I will admit though - that I loved the lamb, steak and the other red meats that were served. I also thought the ambiance was really sexy. If you do want to go to check out the ambiance and try some of the foods, don't get pressured into the tappa style thing, ask to see the menu, and order exactly what you want to eat - I don't think I'll be going back.
