Average in most respects

I went here for my birthday dinner with my family. I was looking forward to it since Indian food is what I have grown up on. We were the only family there at 8:30 PM on a Satruday night. We noticed that most of Langley was deserted at this time, so maybe this is just the way Langley is. I was a bit dissapointed with the food. The mild was too mild and the spicy was a bit too spicy. It would have been great to have something in between. There service was OK. Usually, we try to make conversation with the waiter a little bit and with an absolutely empty restaurant you would think he was free to make conversation, but our waiter was a bit standoffish. When taking our order there was a phone call, and despite there being other staff, he went on to answer a 5-6 minute phone call and leave us hanging. I thought the portion sizes were a bit to small for the price and hence the value was not the best. They do have a coupon in the entertainment book 2011, so that made the value a little better. The ambiance was interesting. Nicely painted walls, a bit dark inside with Indian punjabi music playing in the background, but not too loud as it usually is in a lot of Indian restaurants. I probably would not go here again, unless I hear from others about substantial changes in this restaurant.

As Good As It Gets

This is our family favorite restaurant. We went here for Mother's day and most birthdays in our family. Our favorite dishes are the chicken fried rice, eggplant, shanghai noodles & the hot and sour soup. For desert, I reccommend the ice-cream on friend bannana. Often immatated, never duplicated, the taste at Green Lettuce is hard to beat.

The value for the food and service is simply incredible. For 10 of us in two families, the cost came to $180 with drinks and dessert.

Their ambience is descent. The lighting is great. However, they could do with a larger restaurant, since there almost always is a line up.

But perhaps the best reason we repeatedly visit Green Lettuce is because of its service. This is a family business, mainly operated by husband and wife. Despite their busy schedules, they don't hesitate to stop by at our table and ask us a question, not just about our food, but about our lives. Makes things so much more personal. They are always smiling and their service is prompt and effecient. Many times they have allowed us to stay past the closing time of the restaurant.

In summary, Green Lettuce is as good as it gets. They say you can't have the silver bullet, you can't have butter on both sides of the bread, but at Green Lettuce you can have it all - good tasty healthy food, amazing value for your money, decent ambience and best of all a personal and smiling service and that is something you can't possibly put a price on. It's priceless!

It was a very different experience. Sharing food from one plate (if you order the platter). The platter allows you to taste a little of many different dishes. A bit of each dish is served on a pancake. The food was really delicious. The service was excellent. This is a family business. The father explained to us what each dish was made of. He even offered to give us a recipe for one of the dishes. Value was awesome for your money. For the 10 of us, the bill came to 125 bucks, with tips and with drinks. The ambiance was alright. Everything was really clean. Highly recommend this place for Ethiopian cuisine!
