Horchata Heaven
Submitted Monday, January 10, 2011 - 10:15pm [Dine in]

I like to support small family businesses and this one deserves a shout out. The friendly and hardworking owners work hard to please customers looking for a delicious meal. The horchata drink was especially satisfying - sweet, creamy, and full of flavour. This place is worth checking out!

Tantalizing
Submitted Saturday, April 18, 2009 - 3:46am [Dine in]

On a dreary gray Vancouver day, my tastebuds were in dire need of a wakup call. Mezbaan fit the bill with delicious food and great service. My other half and I shared a delightful vindaloo dish and some fluffy naan. It left us satisfied and craving for an encore. Needless to say, we will be back.

Memories of Thailand

Don't let the unexpected location fool you, this place serves absolutely fantastic thai cuisine that tantalizes the tastebuds. I especially enjoyed the spiciness of the panang curry. The service was very good, we really appreciated the warmth and hospitability of the people who worked there. They took the time to answer our inquiries and shared their knowledge of thai cooking with us. A great little restaurant!

Turkish Delight

I had a chance to try the Iskender Durum (Turkish Donair) today and was quite impressed with the freshly baked lavash bread. The filling was delicious and drizzled with a tasty yogurt sauce.

The service was very good. The lady behind the counter was incredibly helpful with her suggestions.

Now that I have been spoiled with the fresh bread, I can't go back to regular store bought pita.

Great service!

It's so refreshing to finally go to a Vietnamese restaurant that appreciates your business. I've been to quite a few Vietnamese restaurants around town and the service has always been quite poor. It's nice to finally not have to feel like I'm being a pain in the butt when I want to order my food or want my drink to be refilled. Good food too!

I can honestly say that the food was okay but the service was something else. Yes, it was a Friday night and they had a large party so we understand that it was busy but still it was really shocking to see how they treat customers. We had to wait over an hour for table because of poor table planning. To make amends for the wait, the hostess handed out coupons for free appetizer. But low and behold, when we wanted to use the coupon, we were told that the coupon was only valid for the Broadway location. Instead of giving this location our business we were suppose to drive all the way to their smaller Broadway location and basically line up again. The coupon by the way was as clear as mud. It read "free appetizer" but somehow the obscure arrow explained that we were suppose to drive all the way to Broadway to use it. That's not all, the hostess made one group of diners move to another table in the middle of their meal to accomodate a large party then she approached them again and basically hurried them out because of the long line up. The nerve!

Cafe Kathmandu was definitely a good experience. We really enjoyed the chicken curry and the kothay (fried dumplings). The service was great too. Although this restaurant may not appear as flashy as other restaurants, this place is definitely a gem.

Huh?
Submitted Friday, July 21, 2006 - 10:07pm [Dine in]

I really don't understand why people rant and rave about this place. The service is fine but the cheesecake????? If you ever want to make you own cheesecake that tastes like the ones that you tried at Cheesecake Etc., just hand down to your local supermarket and pick up a box of the Jello No Bake Cheesecake. The texture and taste are almost the same!

This restaurant experience was off to a bad start when the hostess/waitress who was on the other side of the restaurant rudely told us to sit wherever. Throughout the whole time we were there, the waitress had a total attitude problem.

The food wasn't any better. The salmon and tuna rolls were definitely not fresh and absolutely tasteless. The rest of our order was not that impressive either. Needless to say, try somewhere else, you deserve better.

He shoots, He misses
Submitted Sunday, May 28, 2006 - 12:46pm [Dine in]

Yes, Dix is a good place for a pint and to check out the game. But for the food, it was rather disapointing. The BBQ platter tasted like something that came out the Kraft kitchen. The cornbread was just simply too doughy and the salads were tasteless. If you are looking for a place to check out the game and for great food, I would check some place else.

Fantastic Food & Service
Submitted Saturday, May 27, 2006 - 2:59am [Dine in]

Situated inside the Georgian Court Hotel on Beatty Street, The William Tell Restaurant offered my other half and I a fantastic dinner experience. The food was delicious especially the French Onion Soup and the Quebec Veal. The service was professional and timely. If you like cool presentations, try the cafe diablo.
