Our favorite sushi place!
Submitted Monday, October 4, 2010 - 4:48pm [Take-out]

We have eaten in and taken out food many, many times and we are never disappointed! It's not the best sushi out there but for it's definitely good! Like the previous reviewer said, if you want better - then you'll have to go into Richmond or Vancouver. The price is comparable to other Japanese places but the sushi portions are large. I love their Udon soup! The only tiny complaint I have is that there have been 1 or 2 times where we've ordered take out and asked for 4 more packs of soy sauce since they've only given us 2 packets and they wanted to charge us for them individually. But aside from those 2 incidents - it's been our favorite sushi place! We go there once a month! :)

I've had better....
Submitted Monday, October 4, 2010 - 4:39pm [Dine in]

Me and my boyfriend were really excited to try out this Thai restaurant since we live in Surrey. However, the food wasn't really that great.... My boyfriend's mom makes thai food and hers is just amazing! Contrary to all the positive reviews about this place, it was such a let down that we ended up leaving and picking up some fast food after dinner. The service is was pretty good though.

Great Service! Try the Cooked Oysters
Submitted Wednesday, July 21, 2010 - 8:48am [Dine in]

This was our first time eating at the Rim Rock and what lured us was the rave reviews it received. For starters we had an assortment of raw and cooked oysters which were delicious. I highly recommend the cooked oyster with the bacon on it. Yum! Then we had the lobster bisque that I enjoyed because it tasted light and refreshing but my boyfriend didn't like it - he said he had better. And for the main course, I had the mushroom risotto and vegetables and he had the steak. His steak was good but not the best we've ever had and my dish was good too but there wasn't enough risotto. 95% of my plate were just grilled vegetables but the flavors did go well together. We may have chosen the wrong dishes but overall I would still go back just for the oysters!

First visit to Araxi
Submitted Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - 4:50pm [Dine in]

My boyfriend and I went to the Araxi on our first night in Whistler (Friday night). We didn't have to wait in any line up since we had made reservations a few hours ahead so no headaches there! :) We started off our dinner with 2 appetizers - the beef carpaccio and the sablefish risotto. Both were amazing! The beef carpaccio in all fairness was not the best we've ever had but it was still very good. However the sablefish risotto was incredible! The different layers of taste were really delicious! I wish I could have risotto every night!

For our main courses, my boyfriend had the rib eye steak and I had the prosciutto wrapped chicken. My boyfriend said his steak was nothing outstanding and my chicken was nothing outstanding either to be honest. There was too much pea sauce that it literally drenched my chicken to mush.

Lastly, we had two desserts. My boyfriend had the Okanagan cherry cheesecake and I had the raspberry napoleon. His cheesecake was very good and my napoleon - although over prices - was to die for. My boyfriend was crazed on my dessert but I thought it tasted amazing.

As far as service, it was ok. The guy didn't seem to really care about us and was getting irritated that he couldn't hear what my boyfriend was saying over the loud rowdy people beside us. I wish the server was more pleasant because the bill was over $200 and we do tip generously based on our service.

Recommendations: Sablefish Risotto (mmmmmm The best Risotto!!), Raspberry Napoleon. Book reservations
