Must have came on a good day
Submitted Sunday, February 21, 2010 - 1:30am [Dine in]

I wasn't expecting much when dining in at Sushi Garden for the very first time after reading all the reviews. When we got there it was jam packed and we waited for at least 20-30 minutes for a table. I expected really bad service and mediocre food but I was pleasantly suprised. Food was pretty good, the Alaska rolls were really tasty and stuff full of avocado. The service wasn't so bad either. The waiter was really nice and we got our tea refilled so many times and we didn't even have to ask it seemed a little excessive but that's a good thing.

Will Come Back
Submitted Saturday, October 4, 2008 - 12:18am [Dine in]

I'd have to agree with the other people that Nathan's Grill is located in a odd place for a restaurant but that's what makes it special. It's such a calm, secluded area and that's part of its charm. The food is good and the place looks nice. It's somewhat small but it has a cozy appeal. The servers are nice and efficient however I did go with a group of 6 people for my B-day and we practically where the only ones dining. Our waitress also gave me a free dessert with a sparkling candle which was very nice of them. I will definitely go back.

My gf and I decided to give this place a try because we wanted to see if the butter chicken was up to our standards. Well it wasnt great but it was decent. She had the butter chicken but she prefered the butter chicken from Samosa G. i had the chicken tikka. The tikka was not bad, it had all white meat chicken, a salad on the side, 2 gigantic pieces of naan bread and some raita which was good.

Sevice was ok, food was brought to us in a timely matter but the server was kinda weird, he threw the menus at us which caused water from our cups to spill. That was not cool accident or no accident.

It was not a fancy place, really casual almost cafeteria like but it did have 2 TV screens playing some indian music videos which was interesting.

Would we go back? maybe, since they do have some interesting things on their menu..

So satisfying
Submitted Wednesday, December 27, 2006 - 2:56pm [Dine in]

Everytime I go to Brentwood Mall with my girlfriend we always have to stop by Pita King. We always get the chicken shwarma and a can of pop for $5.39. The chicken is really flavourful and juicy. I've tried the beef and it's alrite but I perfer chicken the most. Everytime we eat there we are completely satisfied and the service is really fast (when it's not busy)

I had been meaning to try this restuarant for quite sometime now and my GF and I had the opportunity this past sunday. Well as always we decided to order on the safe side and get a rice and chicken dish. Well the fried rice dish was pretty typical tasting of any other chinese restuarant. It had nice size pieces of shrimp and it also had some beef in there but i think it came from a can which was not cool. But overall the taste was ok. The honey garlic chicken we ordered was below average. It was dry and there was too much honey on it. It tasted like it was cooked at a foodcourt mall.

The food came quickly, maybe even a little too quickly which made me think that they just reheat the stuff but I could be wrong because there was barely anyone in the restuarant at the time so the cook staff would not be busy. The service was good though. We had our tea refilled ever so often and the owner was really nice.

Prices werent much of a bargain as the previous poster mentioned and the servings are kinda on the stingy side as opposed to other chinese restuarants of this calibre. The place is on the small side too. There's only a few tables and booths.

Hoewever I think i would give this place another chance because there were some other interesting items on the menu. They also have some dim sum items which is interesting because there's not many halal restuarants that have dim sum and that intrigues me to come back and try them for lunch.

Cozy place for drinks and dining
Submitted Sunday, December 17, 2006 - 2:32pm [Dine in]

Went to this place on a saturday night for a friend's birthday party. It was a intimate gathering of a few good friends. The food here is kinda pricey for my tastes but none the less the quality was very good. However they do have lower end items such as a congac burger and fish and chips ranging from $10-12 if your wallet is light. I had the blackened sockeye salmon with angel hair pasta for $17.88. It was just ok though as it was dry but yet it was still flavourful. My friends had the ribs which was really tasty. It was tender and full of flavour but kinda pricey at $28.

I really liked how the place looked it is small but yet not to the point were it is cramped. As it is also a lounge the light was very dim. We were practically dinning with candle light which I thought made it a really good place to take a date because it has that cozy feeling and there's also a DJ spinning some mixes in the background. They have 2 plasma TVs on the walls and they also showed the Nucks game on TV which I think also makes this place a good place to hangout and drink with friends.

Servers were attentive and really helpful too. I would definately recommend this place.

Not Bad
Submitted Tuesday, December 12, 2006 - 1:29pm [Dine in]

Went here on a monday around 5ish. Wasnt really busy, there were a few tables but is was pretty dead. Food was pretty good for the money. I had the Roll combo for 5.95 and 2 California Rolls for 2.95 each. My girlfriend and I could barely finish everything, it was really filling.

The service was not great even for take out. I was not even greeted, no smiling faces what so ever. You would expect the staff to atleast say hello or acknowlegde you in some way. Service aside. The place was not that big and I dont think I would dine in. However I would recommend take out.

Typical Chinese food but with a twist
Submitted Saturday, November 25, 2006 - 11:58pm [Dine in]

Went on a friday night with my girlfriend, the place is not that big but very cozy. My guess the place could seat about 50 people or so. The service was pretty good but we went around 5:30 and it was dead only 2 other tables were filled. It did however get busy after 6 tho.

The food was pretty typical of any other chinese restuarant. We ordered the lemon chicken. It was ok nothing special, it had white meat chicken chunks deep fried and lemon sauce dumped on top my GF said it tasted like chicken McNuggets but that was a good thing. We also ordered the Green lettuce fried rice. Not bad it had shrimp and chicken. Both dishes were under $10. Infact all dishes are under 10 except for the seafood items.

There is one special thing that makes this restuarant stand out from other chinese restuarants and it is that all their meats are HALAL. That is what drew me to the Green lettuce in the first place. I had verbal assurances from the staff when I called them.

I would go back and try some of their other dishes, but the one thing that was weird to me was that they dont have chopsticks!! It's a chinese restuarant you'd expect to see some chopsticks and bowls on the table but nope only forks and plates.
