Japanese food the way its made in Japan. Fuji Sushi is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in the Lower Mainland. It is a relatively small family run place with a modest decor and excellent food. It's always very busy so the service is a little slow but it is well worth putting up with the service considering the quality and preparation of the food. They have an extensive selection of both local and imported fish which is prepared at the hands of some very skilled chefs. Prices are reasonable. Having lived in Japan for a few years this is one of the "closest to home" experiences I have found. I often take my friends visiting form Japan and they are always impressed.

I've eaten at Akari several times over the last year. The food is decent, ambiance is decent, prices are decent. After living in Japan for several years I've been on a search for the best Japanese food in the Lower Mainland, Akari held promise when it first opened, the owners/chef are Korean but studied in Japan so there are several items on the menu that are very common in Japan and not as common here. Okonomiyaki, Moto Yaki and some others. Most are prepared pretty well but not to the level I've been searching for.
The last time I was in about a month ago the food quality had declined. Akari was never my first choice when going out for Japanese, but it ranks a solid second or third choice in the Tricities area. I'd give it a "recommended" for someone looking for decent, reasonably priced Japanese.
