Good Dim Sum for a good price - BUT HORRIBLE SERVICE
Submitted Wednesday, October 6, 2010 - 10:31am [Dine in]

This restaurant has been a regular for my family and in-laws for the great value and good dim sum they serve. The food is generally very good, and a table of four with ten dishes cost us only $30 dollars.

What really kills this restaurant for us is the horrible service that you will receive. From the table clearers up to the management, there is a horrible attitude that prevails across the staff. From the manager who seats you and drags you by the hand to your table (and yells a hell of a lot at EVERYONE), to the staff who gave my mother a bad attitude as half the dishes we had set were filthy, don’t go to this restaurant if you’re expecting to be treated half-decent.

In a nut-shell, don’t go if you want to be treated with respect. Just go for the good quality, inexpensive dim sum and let your tip (or lack thereof) speak for the horrible service you receive.

I doubt we'll go back again, nothing like being treated like crap to take my business elsewhere.

Started off slow...
Submitted Monday, January 25, 2010 - 5:00pm [Dine in]

Booked a specific table at town hall for a 7:00 reservation Friday night for a friend's going away party, only to have to be told that we can't have that table when we showed up.

Of course, being upset at this we let them know it, but accepted another table. Shortly after placing drink orders with a friendly, outgoing waitress, the night manager showed up to apologize and served a complimentary bottle of wine as an offer for amends.

Despite the hiccup to start the evening, we really enjoyed ourselves our time at Town Hall. All of the food was delicious, yet reasonably priced. Wine list was strong and priced well. Our server was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was enjoyable.

A great place for dinner
Submitted Tuesday, September 16, 2008 - 9:33am [Dine in]

Been here a number of times with friends and family and have not been disappointed once.

The food is top-notch; I highly recommend the seafood pastas. Appetizers are quite good as well. Wine selection is also good with a large menu to choose from.

Service was very good with attentive staff who were able to make great recommendations for both dinner and wine.

Has a beautiful location, especially if you are fortunate enough to sit by the windows overlooking the Fraser River.

A place that is improving
Submitted Tuesday, September 16, 2008 - 9:26am [Dine in]

Have gone to the Blue Canoe several times since it has opened and have noticed dramatic improvements in everything since then.

To start off, food overall is good, but some dishes can be lacking. I highly recommend the chicken drumettes, and the burger is pretty good as well.

I'm not quite sure what is up with the servers there. Some days it is quite good, others we won't see our server for 30 minutes and have to ask another to get us what we need.

Food prices are expensive, however their beer selection is very good with a selection of great microbrews at reasonable costs.

Of course you can't go wrong with their great patio area. Now that summer is fading away, it'll be a shame not to be able to use it.

Horrible experience
Submitted Tuesday, September 16, 2008 - 9:20am [Dine in]

Recently we had a horrible experience at this restaurant. Went here on the recommendation of a family friend for a birthday. Service was terrible. They'd drag chairs through the restaurant and wouldn't care if they hit your chair or you with them. Our dishes arrived late, some arriving over 2 hours after we ordered them.

Food was poor at best, had a total of eight dishes and none of them were enjoyable. Prices were horrendously high for the quality we received.

You're lucky if you're served!
Submitted Thursday, September 20, 2007 - 12:00pm [Dine in]

Been to this place several times, enjoyed the food for a good price. Service has always been poor, with servers barely paying attention to whoever they are serving. You'll be lucky if they don't screw up the order.

Last time I was there was a Saturday at 11:00, there were four people in the entire place. Sat down, and did not receive ANY service for five minutes until I walked out in disgust. Won't go back until they improve their service.
