You know how you get terrible service at most Asian places? This aint one of them!
Good service, good food.. the place looked good too. Pretty refreshing to be quite honest.
When I think Vietnames noodles, I think dirty, small, congested, and rude. This place is none of those things, and offers great food.
I ordered the spicy pork hock noodle in soup and it was great! Although it might have had too much MSG, who cares? You're going for PHO. Be prepared to be doused in MSG.
Want something heatlhy? Don't come to this place. Want something tasty and satisfying? This is the place.

I took my mom here for her birthday and it was an instant home run.
Just coming in we are greeted by the french culture. Servers were speaking french, the bulletins were french, and the community center around was french. It's definitely its own little world on 7th and Fir st.
The service was amazing, as the server translated EVERYTHING on the menu into English and described every meal. They have escargot, frog legs, rabbit, duck patte, you name it, they got it!
For our meal we got the leak & potato soup, crab cakes, and escargot for starters. Then for entrees we ordered the famous mussels, New York steak, and rack of lamb.
The soup was nice and piping hot, exactly what we wanted and TBH, quite rare in most restaurants. Other soups come luke warm and gross. The texture was perfect, not too creamy and just right.
Crab cakes were good too, coming alongside a big portion of salad. Although they were small and petite, the crab cakes were delicious.
The escargot hit the table and it was just amazing. Being bathed in garlic butter, it is needless to say any more. Oh and don't forget to ask for more bread to dip!
Mussels were to die for. You need to order them. It's mandatory. The bread goes well with them as well - did I mention the bread was bottomless?
New York steak was average, but hey it's steak. And the rack of lamb with pepper corn sauce, oh my, this isn't you're typical black pepper corn sauce. It has a hint of sweet to it, bringing out the pepper perfectly. Altogether for 6 dishes = $108.. not bad huh?
This place 5 stars all the way through. The service was amaznig, food was amazing, ambiance was modern/cozy.. prices are very reasonable.
Enough said? Definitely coming back.
Yes! I love coming back to this place.
I know the tofu is 10/10, so instead I tried their kum ja tang (pork bone soup).
It was pretty good, however NOT as pictured in the menu/posters. Being as the price of 12.99 or w/e, it's not bad. You would often have to pay 29.99 for a big pot of it at Jang Mo Jib.
Definitely come here after or before peak hours and you will enjoy it. Come during lunch or dinner rushes, you will be waiting hours for food.
For Indian food in Richmond, this place is the best.
From curries and tandoori's to naan bread and lassi's, this place knows how to serve it right. I usually get the goat curry or the vindaloo, with extra naan bread. Yes, the naan bread at this place is almost to die for. It is the shining star, the cornerstone and the blood and veins of this place.
You can tell that the naan bread is traditionally made, put into a fire oven, and served with care. The naan bread is so delicate, so fluffy, and so full of flavour. Add your choice of curry and you will find yourself in spice heaven.
The only downside is the long wait times during peak hours. Just make sure you call ahead and speak very clear over the phone. They just might hear your 7pm reservation and write you down for 730.. not good!
All in all, this place is the hidden gem of Richmond, and TBH, I'd like to keep it that way.
For a sit down bubble tea experience in Richmond, I always come to Totoro.
The drinks are good, the snacks are reasonable, and the ambiance is cozy. The place is plastered with cat-themed pictures and trinkets, and not to mention the very delightful lounge cushions.
Parking can be an issue on busy nights, but if you're okay with the NO PARKING FIRE LANE area, then you're good to go!
My girlfriend and I arrived just shortly after 2pm and the place was nearly empty. This is good because when the place is packed, it's PACKED.
We ordered the horosamae salad, spicy tuna rolls, spicy salmon rolls, and a seafood udon. The portions were BIG and we definitely could not finish everything. Similar items at another Japanese restaurant would be much smaller. Oh and the price - very very very reasonable. It came to just over $20 for everything and we had left overs.
Definitely coming back!
Came here with my girlfriend and the food was amazing ONLY because I used to work at an Earls before.
I know never to order pasta - those are gross.
Instead, we got the Italian pizza, hold pizza sauce, sub bbq sauce instead, extra basil. My goodness, this kind of pizza is almost to die for.
And we also got the Bronx burger, with half/half fries and salad. The thing was just so good.
Food was amazing, however service was mediocre. Oh and to add, the only reason why we came was because we had a gift card. Would I come here regularly? No.
I seriously have been coming to this place since I was 12 years old. Back then, the place used to be located at Empire Market (next to Parker Place), and the place had grey carpet and white walls. Now it's moved to their new location (no3 and Alderbridge) and it's looking great!
The food has been changed to fit the taste of Chinese regulars so I can't say it's authentic Vientamese.. But hey - I still like coming here.
Spring rolls are hands down the best and the 'sun-fa' is like no other!
I'm a fan of Greek food so here's my break down of the place:
Roast Lamb - amazing as always. Comes with a mint jelly that you must try.
Tarama Dip - Nice and thick, kind of salty, but that's fine
Saganaki - VERY nice with the flambe action - a must if it's a special occasion
Mousaka - nice portion - could have been hotter though
Service was great, the place was very cozy, and the prices are reasonable.
Can't go wrong with this place!
I came here on a Saturday lunch rush and noticed my favourite sushi item is gone. There is no more Saba (mackeral) on the menu.
This place WAS known for their incredible saba sushi.. for their delicately fried tempura, and their amazing all-you-can-eat menu. I think they stripped it down and took out a lot of things that I really liked.
Not coming here any more!
I've been going to this place since the era of their hand made udon noodles. Unfortunately, the old cook has retired and the place is no longer serving hand made udons.
Regardless, this place is still awesome for the value, the sushi, and definitely the service.
The waitress has been working there for so long and she knows how to bring her customers back.
This place is my go-to place for good value sushi.
I love this place but the only problem happens when I get seated at the side.
They have these room dividers so the servers will NEVER see you. I wanted an extra bowl of rice.. takes 5 minutes for them to know. I wanted more kimchi.. 5 minutes... more water.. 5 mins.. etc etc.
Regardless, this place is great for the tofu soup and bulgogi. My only wish is for the servers to actually wake up.
Take it for what it's worth.. If you're in the area for Chinese, this is the place to go.
It's like any other Chinese place, but in the heart of Steveston. Don't be fooled by the small exterior look because inside can pack lots of people. Very authentic Chinese food.
Make sure you order the 19.99 lobster + crab combination.
Plus try not to flirt it up with the server too much, she's only 17.
I'm a fanatic for Greek food and wanted to try this place again.
I always order the tarama dip (salmon roe) and it was a bit too salty - but I enjoyed it none the less. The roast lamb was superb with meat falling off the bone, and the mousaka was good too.
