I love this place!

The sushi here is reallllllly good! Good quality, always fresh. The owners are always super nice and yes they often do give a little sample of roll sushi with your order. They make a totally yummy seaweed salad...it's not on the menu but they will make it for you if you ask. Best sushi in Walnut Grove for sure!

The best sushi in Langley!
Submitted Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 3:18pm [Dine in]

Wow, wow, wow....Hiko Sushi serves up some good sushi! I went with a group of people for lunch and we were all pleased. I personally had the Sunshine Roll and it was to die for! Prawn, crab, salmon, avocado, cucumber, & yam with tobiko & spicy sauce on top...yum! I also had a taste of the Crispy Roll which was extremely good and the vegetable tempura (light batter, not greasy) that was tasty as well. Both were like flavour explosions in my mouth...seriously the best sushi in Langley!

Their special rolls run around $12.95 while the regular rolls start at $3.95.

Service was good, all staff I dealt with were very pleasant. Very clean establishment. Typical sushi restaurant decor.

Shut this place down!
Submitted Tuesday, April 14, 2009 - 12:16am [Dine in]

We have been to this restaurant a few times. The decor is beautiful, west coast contemporary. The food is awful but worse than the food is the service! We have had the exact same experience every single time we have gone there: the servers (different people each time) have forgotten our drink orders, we were never given cutlery (shouldn't it already be on the table?) and they took forever to bring us the food we ordered...when it came, we still did not have cutlery. It appears as if the wait staff is inexperienced or untrained. IMO, this place should be shut down and turned into a Joey's or a Cactus Club (they have better foor and training programs for their staff).

Forgettable
Submitted Monday, April 13, 2009 - 11:56pm [Dine in]

I ordered take out a couple of weeks ago....it wasn't that good. I had the M&D Roll...a Dynamite Roll topped with smoked salmon with real crab, masago and mayo. At $10.95 per roll, I expected it to taste way better...it was oddly bland. I also had the Real Crab California Roll, again it was bland. With all of the other sushi places out there, I would not come back to this one.

Meh

We went to this restaurant on our friends recommendation...they raved about the food here....which makes me question their taste, lol! We had the crispy honey chicken and the pad thai...I would classify both as food court level quality....sort of overcooked, not a lot of flavour. Maybe the cook was having an off day? I'd give it another try but would go in without any expectations.

Spring Rolls are soooo good
Submitted Monday, April 13, 2009 - 11:31pm [Dine in]

This restaurant has been open for a few months now, we went for the first time last week. The pork & mushroom spring rolls were some of the best I have ever had! You get two large spring rolls per order, definitely enough to share. We also had the chicken curry, it was just okay. Try their Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, it's pretty good. The portion sizes are a bit small for the price but I will be back even if only for the spring rolls!

Best Indian Restaurant in Langley by far!
Submitted Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - 12:45am [Dine in]

We have been to Ashoka a handful of times and were pleased every single time. The food is yummy, I tend to have the same dishes over so I can only tell you that the garlic naan, butter chicken, rogan josh and rice are really, really good. The service is good as well, the wait staff all very friendly.

Great Dim Sum
Submitted Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - 12:37am [Dine in]

We have been to this restaurant many times for dim sum...truly the best in the Fraser Valley, possibly even Vancouver. A little bit more expensive than others but worth it as everything appears to be fresh and of good quality. Off the top of my head, I can say that we have tried the sesame balls, custard tarts, spareribs in black bean sauce, the chicken 'claws' (yes, and they are really tasty, lol), squid in curry sauce, deep fried squid, the sticky rice, the prawn spring rolls, sauteed veggies....all were very good.

Delicious!!
Submitted Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - 12:19am [Dine in]

The Vault had been recommended to my husband and I over a year ago but we finally decided to try it out last weekend...we are now sorry that we didn't go sooner!

I started with a strawberry margarita that was well made, very tasty. We shared a couple of appetizers, I choose the smoked salmon wonton...it was delish. Smoked salmon, capers, red onions on a square wonton drizzled with a dijon aioli...simple and delightful. My husband had the calamari, it was good as well. Hot crusty bread with butter lightly flavoured with garlic was then served. For dinner, I had the mixed seafood grill...a portion of wild salmon, prawns & scallops drizzled with a hoisin sweet chilli sauce. This was served with grilled veggies and a white/wild rice mixture. This meal was simply divine! Husband had the chicken breast in a creamy mushroom sauce. Garlic mashed potatoes and grilled veggies were the accompaniments. His meal was also very good. We both were very pleased...in addition to the awesome food, the ambiance and decor of the restaurant was really neat plus the service was outstanding. Can't wait until we go back!

What Happened to Wendel's?
Submitted Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - 12:05am [Dine in]

I was in Fort Langley attending a course and decided to go to Wendel's for lunch. I ordered the smoked salmon bagel...oh dear...a bad choice. The bagel was super dry! I was actually really surprised that they would have served it to a customer. The cream cheese looked like it had been slapped on and there was only one meager piece of smoked salmon on each half of the bagel....I expected more for $10.

The ambiance was decent but the cashier/order taker was one of the most sullen people I have ever seen....no smile, no eye contact...it was weird and not very inviting at all.
