Maruwa Sushi Japanese Restaurant11300 Steveston Highway, Richmond
Awesome, Fresh, Tasty

I eat sushi a couple of times a week. This place is consistently great. I highly recommend it for lunch.

Chopped Scallop sushi, Tuna Sashimi and the spicy tuna bowl would be some of my favorites.

The room is too small, but that is just the way it is.

Not a place to bring a group. No room. 2 or 4 people will work however.

Received a coupon in the paper and ordered one of the special meals by phone. Guy was great on the phone. Picked 2 sides. Was asked if I want Portugese buns or Garlic Bread. Chose garlic bread. Was not told about the $2.50 upcharge that I did not notice i paid for until I got home. Would have paid it, but come on, don't arbitratily add cost and expect people to not notice.

The guy on the phone also tried to upsell me on another side and I had to ask 2 or 3 times if it was included with the coupon I had. I did not need any more food - we were already getting too much. He had a hard time telling me that I would have to pay for a third side. Felt like I was being sold a car.

Chicken is consistent. I do find the fries get soggy by the time we eat them at home, but like the flavor. The coleslaw seemed about 2/3 full in the take out container, but that may be a full order. Was fresh and tasty.

The garlic bread is hamburger buns cut in half and lightly toasted. Pretty weak.

Best View on the Beach

Food is amazing. Have had 4 great meals there. Have heard about a few service challenges, but I am sure they are primarily from being new and experiencing growing pains.

I would recommend this place to anyone. It is the best spot on Marine Drive in White Rock!!

Decor, location and the lounge makes it a great room. Same owners as Cielo's, but a much different atmosphere - both have their strengths - 5DD is much brighter and spacious.

The Creole Chicken with Scallops and Prawns are amazing, and the presentation for the raw oysters along with the sauces is outstanding. Chef Steve has outdone himself.

Another restaurant that could not handle the winter at the beach. From everything I heard they were actually ok. I wonder if the valet parking that they have started would have helped them. The location they have probably has the best view on the beach. It is right at the foot of the pier. Location has had so many owners.

Definitely a Favorite

We live in the area and go out for dinner quite a bit. We love to try different restaurants and support as many as we can.

However, we always end up going back to Cielo's. The food is the most consistent on the beach. Everyone we have taken there has had a great meal. The atmosphere is loud, the room is a little small for the amount of seats, but it all adds to the ambience that we prefer.

I highly recommend Cielo's for a night out on the town. Whether it is dinner for 2 or for a larger group, you are guaranteed to have an entertaining evening.

The Bruschetta and the Lobster Tortellini would be my favorites, as well as the Chocolate Mousse for desert.

How much
Submitted Saturday, June 19, 2010 - 8:17am [Dine in]

Phoned in an order for my wife and I. 2 orders each of 2 pieces of Halibut and chips. Pretty simple.

Arrived at Fishnet, product was available on time. Each order was $23. I found that ridiculous. Our bill was $46.

We did take the product out on our boat and left it in the Styrofoam container for about 30 minutes, which made the product quite soggy. It may have been crispier if we had eaten it right away.

For $46 fish and chips, I would expect something pretty amazing. A $23 per person, the meal should be pretty high quality.

Fries were also just OK and the serving size would be regular. Again, nothing justifying anything over $14 per serving.

Sorry, but I will not be back.
