Hy's Steakhouse4308 Main St., Whistler
Fav in Whistler
Submitted Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 6:42pm [Dine in]

I love dining at Hy's when I am in Whistler. I am a big steak fan and I feel that they do it the best (not a fan of Hy's in Vancouver). I am recognised when I walk in and I am given the same table visit after visit. Great big tender steaks cooked to perfection and a fabulous wine list. If you plan to go ask for Chris to serve you, he is one of the best waiters I have ever had even if he is an Oiler's fan. When in Whistler GO TO HY'S.

Love the cut to order concept
Submitted Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 6:36pm [Dine in]

Had dinner at Metro last week with some clients from out of town. The room is beautiful with a nice lounge and bar to enjoy cocktails before dinner. The dining room has a great view of the North Shore Mountains and Coal Harbour. We started dinner with some local oysters on the half shell and then right into entrees. The ability for me to pick what items I wanted and the portion size is a great concept, it allowed me to be in charge of what I wanted to eat. The bison ribeye while not as tender as beef ribeye definitely had more flavour. The duck was cooked perfectly as was the deer. We added a side of the spiny lobster to surf and turf our meals. A great wine menu and the maitre d' helped us pick a beautiful California Cabernet to go with our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Morton's of Chicago, The Steakhouse750 W. Cordova Street, Vancouver
Big steaks

Went to Morton's with some business clients last week. I am a fan of this restaurant and love the service and the food. The food is not revolutionary but what they do well is cook steaks and the appropriate sides. I had the cajun ribeye and every bite melted in my mouth. A side of suateed mushrooms and I was set for the night. A great place to have a steak, especially if someone else is picking up the tab.

Why can't it be Dine Out all Year Long
Submitted Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 2:50pm [Dine in]

I love this little restaurant. I had the chance to accompany a friend for their dine out reservations after their S/O couldn't attend. The nice touch of an amuse bouche, palate cleanser and a pre-dessert all included in the $35 menu was really a stand out. I found the service to be prompt, courteous and professional. My napkin was re-folded when I returned from the washroom, it is the little details that make a restaurant shine. My cornish hen was so moist and tender that it made me wish that they would continue this menu all year. The chocolate many ways for dessert met every expectation that my sweet tooth had. The wine list is extensive with wines from $40 to $1100, something for everyone and the staff and manager are very helpful when it comes to recommendations. I left feeling extremely content. Since DOV ends soon (i see that Rare is extending their menu until the 10th of February) I guess I will have to go back soon to try their seasonal $45 menu. A few less lattes at Starbucks and the $10 difference is easily made up. I definitely recommend Rare.
