This has to be the best poutine that I have had in Vancouver. The prices aren't bad for what they offer and every person that I've seen order the poutine has ordered the large. It goes for 8.99 for a large but the size is ridiculous. It is a take out box (the large square one) filled with fries, gravy and cheese curds. The fries were your standard fries but the gravy and cheese curds were amazing.
Normally the fries aren't crispy pretty fast but for some ready, they retained their crispiness for some time. The taste was amazing and it is incredibly filling.
They are other flavours of poutine as well but why mess with a winning recipe? There are other flavours for an additional cost like smoked meat, italian and some other varieties. I may try to smoked meat some day but for now, I am more than happy with just the large regular poutine.
Definitely my go to place for poutine!
I've driven pass this place on numerous occasions and have never really thought to drop by. It is a small little corner restaurant that can seat probably 15 people maximum and it was very busy when I went for lunch. It seemed as if this place has a steady flow of customers and I can see why.
I had a Large bowl of pho (no. 1) and it came quickly. It was one of the better bowls of pho that I've had. The broth was good, the noodles were good and they did not skimp out on the beef/meat.
I also had their spring rolls. They were crispy and delicious. There were 3 people working there that day and one of them worked in the front, one worked in the kitchen and one rotated. The service was quick and friendly and the food was good.
I will certainly come back and try their viet subs as I hear they are good here. Unfortunately, after the large bowl of pho and the spring rolls, I was stuffed with some left over as well.
Ordered two items from their menu.
1. Sushi Special - Consisted of Miso Soup, California Roll, Yam Tempura Roll and Tuna Roll
2. Beef Teriyaki Bento - Consisted of Beef Teriyaki and Rice, Salad, Tempura and California Roll
First, the sushi special, it was mediocre at best. The california roll had little taste and left a lot to be desired. The yam tempura roll was not at all crunchy but somehow warm. The Miso soup was less than average for most places and the tuna roll seemed pre-made and wasn't fresh.
The beef teriyaki bento, however, was much better. The beef teriyaki itself was good along with the rice. The salad was on par with most places and was good (not too little or too much dressing). The california roll was the same as above. Lastly the tempura. It was made fresh (as in deep fried to order) so it is still crispy. It consisted of a prawn, slice of carrot, slice of cucumber and slice of yam. Other than the prawn and cucumber, the other two were pretty lack luster. I'm not sure what it was, but the other two just didn't seem fresh.
The ambiance is certainly nothing to really talk about but then again, I don't frequent places just for the ambiance. It's a fairly small place but nothing bad and nothing good.
Service was really fast from ordering to getting our food to paying the bill. There was no check-up or anything like that but the service overall was solid.
The place obviously specializes in Korean BBQ. The meats here are by far the best that I've had thus far in the lower mainland. I have no frequented many Korean places in Coquitlam but this is the best that I've had in Burnaby.
There seems almost always have a short wait before you are seated but it isn't very long. The servers are pretty quick in providing you with your meats and are always available to change up the BBQ plate and give you some more butter. For the price, it is reflected in the quality of the meat so it seems reasonable.
Whenever I need my Korean BBQ fix, this is the place I would go to.
Had the donair and it was good. Nothing to really write home about but the same time, it wasn't anything that I would say is bad.
I had to wait a little while when they were preparing the food but other than that, it was pretty good. Can't really complain about the donair, the beef was good, the lettuce/tomatoes were good and the sauce was good.
I would probably hit this place up again when I am in the neighbourhood.
Went in for some donairs/shawarma and wasn't disappointed. The place is a solid choice in getting your fix. The price does seem a little high for what you get but it's nothing that will kill you.
The portions are pretty good here though they do give you a little less meat than other things. The lettuce and tomatoes are super fresh and you can really taste the freshness of it and crisp crunch when you bite into it.
All in all, when taking out, it was really fast. In and out within 3 mins.
I always order the super beef for the sheer amount of beef that you get here. I would suggest that you go during quieter times as during the busy times, when you order the super beef, they will give you about the same amount as a regular.
What can I say? The lettuce, tomatoes and onions are fresh enough and the sauces are good. I would suggest getting the garlic sauce as it is pretty amazing.
As many people have suggested before, the lunch buffet is one of the best in town. The food itself is pretty good but the naan bread is AMAZING. Nothing compares to the fresh naan bread and so having it here was simply a pleasure.
The rest of the food is alright but the main reason to come here is try whatever (butter chicken, chicken masala, etc...) with the naan bread.
All and all, I would definitely come back here and for the price, it is the best of Burnaby.
Though the place is small and is super cramped, you're not coming here for the decor. The pizza here is amazing with pizza constantly coming out that allows you have a huge variety.
The pizza is fresh and the ingredients are good. The price is very competitive and for a large pizza, it will cost you 14.50 if you pick out 8 slices.
This is the pizza place that I try to hit up as much as possible.
it was pretty good.
Had to wait a little bit after our resos (like 10mins) and then got seated. Service overall was good, they servers took our orders and food came relatively fast.
At the end they charged us for 6 people instead of 5 but that could be because a friend pulled a no show.
They can't seem to figure out how we ordered though. It was actually pretty funny since they left out some food but then randomly gave us others. But the food was fresh and the since it was AYCE, the portions were good too. The food really makes it worth the money.
Either way, it is the best thing in the area and now, I, no longer need to drive to Richmond to get my fix.
The food there is pretty amazing. The clients are all loyal customers whom I see frequently when I go by there. The owner always says hello my friend and other pretty corny lines and everything. It is a good place to have a bowl of pho and a spring roll to kick it. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are nothing but awesome.
The only downfall of this place is the decor, it looks very out dated but the food is amazing. I go for the food and service, not for the appeal of the restaurant. The food will do more than make up for the lack lustre look of the place.
Overall, the food was solid and good choice. The only complaint I have was when we asked for ice water/cold water. The water had this awful chlorine taste to it which makes sense if the water is unfiltered. The service was pretty bad considering that it is a very small place and our waitress who doubled as a cashier didn't really tend to us at all. She did check up on us but after that, she seemed to disappear in the back for the rest of our stay there.
This place is family run and may seem a little run down but the value is definitely in the food. For 2.95, you get a breakfast that is enough to fill up a grown man and you can order it anytime of the day. The burgers aren't bad as well but this is one of those dives that has greasy everything. If you are in for a good hearty meal, this place is for you. The fish and chips aren't bad at all either.
Nothing more and nothing less. The place is passable and for the price of late night AYCE, this place is a solid pick. There is nothing special about this place and the service is busy and pretty rushed. The food is alright and is pretty typical of all AYCE places. Price on the other hand is pretty good when comparing to the rest of the late nights as long as you get menu A and not A + B.
This is the only sushi place that I'll ever go to in Victoria. I've been to a few joints around here but this place has to take it. For the price and taste, this place has to be the best. The combos are worth it and you have to try the dynamite roll.
Trust me, the dynamite roll makes this place unique.
For the price, this place has the best bang for the buck. The taste and everything is authentic and the price won't hurt your wallet!
The staff are nice and friendly but are often hard to waive down and seem to be a little lost at times. If you can forgive the somewhat hit and miss service, you'll love this place.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
As you can expect, after 9:30PM, the late night menu begins. It is generally pretty busy and you may have trouble waiving down staff but it is a solid pick. There is a pretty huge selection of what you can get and for the price, I would definitely say it is worth it.
I believe the AYCE price is 12.95 for late night and is always a solid pick.
This is my second time coming to this place. I knew that after my first time, I should have just left it at that and not have a go again. But because it was a friend's birthday and they wanted to come down to this place, I reluctantly decided to go.
First off, the "calamari" was the most disgusting thing I have ever had in my life. It was either grossly undercooked or grossly overcooked that caused it to be a very chewy and saugy texture. For the price, you would think that the squid could be good and just pop it in the deep fryer but it was just terrible.
The steak was alright. It was OKAY. Nothing more and nothing less. I personally do not see what is so special about cooking your own steak but after all said and done, I could have done better at home.
There was a ridiculous holding charge that the staff told us about for the cake we had made. It was $2/person for the cake. Since we had about 20 people, they expected us to pay $40 for them to hold and serve the cake. What a joke!
