Finally some decent Thai cuisine here in town!!!
Submitted Sunday, June 10, 2012 - 12:02am [Dine in]

My husband and I always love Thai food. We live in Richmond, where we hardly find any good restaurant of Thai cuisine. We tried once the Thai House several years ago and promised to each other that we would not go again. Today my husband suddenly craved for Thai food and urged me to find a good one in Vancouver. I checked the dinehere and found out that the 25 reviews of TALAY THAI are all positive, so we decide to give a try. The result is sooooooooooooo satisfactory! I am so happy that we find this one, we have another favorite weekend dine out point from now on!

We ordered fried rice with chicken for my 4 years old daughter, which she liked and ate the half portion. My husband ordered Satay of Chicken and Pork, the sauce tasted wonderful according to him. Than a Tom Yum Soup with prawn: quite good, fresh, more than OK. But the best are the Fried Ong Choi (a fried vegetable with garlic and fish sauce) and the green curry with eggplant, bell pepper and prawn. I studied the Ong Choi quite a while , trying to figure out how they make it so tasty and delicious. I am not a vegetable fan generally, but this dish is fascinating! You really should try it! The green curry is one of the best I have ever tried, I finished all of the content and my husband used the sauce for his rice and that was really yummy.

In a word, we are very happy about the dinner here tonight. We highly recommend it and definitely will come again.

The pizzas are really good! We ordered Italian, Meditarrenean and Caveman. The portions are great, the topping are very abundant. We are four good eaters , but just finish half of the 3 pizza we ordered. The dominos or pizza hut can not campete with this store. By the way, the chef is really handsome and nice!

Finally some good Donair Kebab
Submitted Monday, June 30, 2008 - 10:12pm [Dine in]

The best Donair Kebab we have had in Vancouver. Those we had in downtown vancouver (denman st.) can not compare with ABDUL'S. We recommend the LAMB, is juicy and tasty. The falafel is outstanding too. They make it by order , not just warm the ready ones in the microwave oven. Will come back again.

not as good as expected

we come here last night to celebrate our anneversaries. My husband ordered a 16oz bone-in new york strip and I ordered a 8oz filet mignon. Both are of very very poor portion. My husband had always ordered the 16oz T-bone steak in Morton's and Ruth Chris' ,he could hardly finish them and had to share with me. But at HY'S he just ate it in 5 minutes and felt nothing. As to my filet, I really can not believe it's a 8oz portion. Meanwhile I have to return it for the first time, because it came like a charcoal ball while I ordered medium.
As to the taste. My husband's new york strip is good. My filet(the second one) was not good either, but I didn't return it again.
The servise is good, our waiter is nice and offered to help me to change my filet. The ambiance is old fashioned, very dark, but nice enough.
As a conclusion: the steaks and foods are not good as we expected. The filet mignon is VERY BAD, we do not recommend to nobody. DO NOT TRY IT. The food quality of HY's can not campare with what we had in Morton's (Hongkong) and Ruth Chirs (Hongkong), not in portion, not in taste. Next time when it comes to steak, we will try the Morton Vancouver. And so sorry that there isn't any Ruth Chris steak house here in Vancouver.
