cramped but worth it
Submitted Monday, May 18, 2009 - 8:50pm [Dine in]

it was really hot the day i went, and the inside, was even warmer! its really cramped inside as well but luckily there weren't too many people inside at the time. the service was okay. our server seemed very nervous to be serving us and didn't seem super happy to be working. i ordered a chicken pita wrap, and it was delicious!! the orange slice and lettuce garnish didn't really help at all. The orange looked dry and the lettuce was dying. BUT, the wrap was still amazing!

Service: Our waitress was great. came by every once in a while to check up on us and was nice. although, she could have put a little more enthusiasm into her work!
Ambiance: I love love love the interior! It's so beautiful and nice and comforting and they play greek music and it's just wonderful inside!!

I really enjoy coming here to eat, however, I went yesterday and discovered that the menu had changed, and I didn't enjoy myself as much. Nonetheless I still like it there.

FOOD : I've ordered beef rice noodle (probably more detailed name than that, but i don't know what else to call it) and some sort of fried noodle. I didn't like the fried noodles because they added curry (without mentioning the addition of this spice on the menu) so i was quite surprised by that. the dish did not taste bad, however, i would have preferred something else, or just plain.

SERVICE : very nice waitresses who work there! service is good, no complaints.

VALUE : i'm always very full after eating there. the prices changed too, i think. but it's not too bad. my curry noodles and drink came to roughly $15. If i don't share my food, i pack it up each time.

AMBIANCE : I like it there. it's cozy, not too busy everywhere. quiet, calm :)

FOOD: matcha slush was so good! it's like the green tea frappucino from starbucks. i also had some fried udon dish, which i thought was really good (and filling) as well!

SERVICE: well there is a little service button at each table, so the service was inevitably solid. however, unlike other restaurants they never check up on you or anything, which really isn't that big of a problem to me. but i suspect that if there were more people, the service would not have been as good.

VALUE: like many other bubble tea restaurants, but the bbt is a littttle more expensive. bubble tea ranges from $4-5.25, or something, and food varies from $4.50-7.95

AMBIANCE: i really liked it in there. it was clean and quiet, very peaceful. I just liked the way everything was arranged, especially where there are panels of glass that cover little displays! you'll know what i mean when you go there!

Food - My boyfriend and I only ordered dessert (Ek Bek & Chocolate Eruption) both of which were decent, not fantastic. We didn't have any of the 'real food' so I can't really rate anything else.

Service - Took a little while to be seated/greeted, but there was only one server and the manager. After we were seated, however, service was good.

Value - The desserts were not the cheapest things in the world, but they were the average price ranging from 6-8 dollars.

Ambiance - Cozy place that is small and comfortable. Great view because it has windows all around, and Steveston is a great place to look at!

Great service!
Submitted Thursday, August 28, 2008 - 8:50pm [Dine in]

Food - I ordered a chicken caesar salad, so it's hard to rate the food based on a simple salad. Nonetheless, it was a good salad! The chicken was not dry and there wasn't too much/too little dressing. Although my friend who ordered another type of salad was missing the sunflower seeds, raisins, and such.

Service - Seated right away. Had a party of 10, and were welcomed and greeted quickly and pleasantly. Our waiter was great and had a great sense of humour. Helped my friend get though missing seeds from her salad without trouble.

Value - Like most other western restaurants. My salad cost around $12.50. Not too horrific, but there are cheaper salads out there.

Ambiance - Very family friendly. Nicely lit. Clean and welcoming!

Ewwey Jello!
Submitted Thursday, August 28, 2008 - 8:42pm [Dine in]

Food - I did not enjoy the complementary jello that comes with large meals. It just didn't taste good! The short rib noodles in soup that I ordered was okay. The noodles and soup were good, the ribs, not so much.

Service - Very nice, pleasant, accommodating.

Value - Price for noodles and rice range from 8-11 dollars, I believe. So it's pretty good. It's like any other bubble tea joint, though.

Ambiance - Although it was squished, it was very comfy feeling. Washrooms were also ridiculously nice and clean!

Dude, where's my service?
Submitted Sunday, August 10, 2008 - 12:10am [Dine in]

I went there once at like 10 pm, or something, with 3 of my other friends. We were seated immediately which was nice, and asked if we'd like anything. And we just wanted some more time to look at the menu.
Then we ordered, food AND bubble tea. Our bubble tea came out within 10 minutes, so it wasn't a huge wait or anything.
Then they never came back to check on us, and we were left stranded there behind this little booth thing, and they couldn't see us. My friends got there food, but I never got my deep fried chicken knees. I thought that they would eventually give it to me, or at least explain why there is such a long wait, but no. I waited and waited, and had to find a waitress to check on my food. Apparently it hadn't even been made yet. Thus another 15-20 minutes.
They apologized and "gave me extras" but it didn't look any different from a normal dish.
They didn't come back to check on us. And right after I finished, we left (2 hours later).

I don't think I'll be going there any time soon. Their bubble tea is decent though.

Warm Sushi
Submitted Sunday, July 13, 2008 - 8:37pm [Dine in]

I've only done take out there, and out of all three times, the sushi has been warm. They leave it out on the counter, waiting in room temperature for the unexpecting, hungry-hippo customers.

Yes, the sushi is huge. Each piece is larger than any sushi I've eaten at other restaurants, but that doesn't mean that the food shouldn't be good.

The service is pretty good. There's always a hostess there and they take your orders quickly and give you good timing for when the sushi will be ready.

My family keeps ordering it simply because of the value. However, I personally don't enjoy my sashimi warm.

It was a cozy place

Food: I ordered some sort of wrap. Which was really greasy, and the salad juices (or whatever) were all over the plate, leaving parts of my wrap soggy. Salad was good though.

Service: Took almost an hour for the food. I guess its difficult with a party of 13, but still, there was only one other table. She never asked for refills, and was often seen chatting with kitchen staff, not doing much.

Ambiance: Cozy place. Nicely lit, and nice interior, although really squished

Really Enjoyed it
Submitted Saturday, July 12, 2008 - 11:26pm [Dine in]

Today was the first time I had gone to The Eatery, and I thought it was great.
Right when we got in, we were seated into a little cramped table, and I was maybe, half a foot away from the other person and it was kind of weird. It was a little loud in there too, just because all the tables are so squished and it's a small area. But nonetheless, I enjoyed my food (Nabe Yake Udon w/ various tempura and plain rice) a lot! My boyfriend ordered the Captain Crunch...I think that's what it's called...and a Chicken Donburi, and it was fantastic as well.

The restaurant is a cute place to eat, but maybe not the best for large groups. The food was great though!

Yummy in my tummy
Submitted Monday, June 23, 2008 - 1:58am [Dine in]

The first time I went there, which was only a few days ago, was great!
I liked it there because it was very authentic looking, very Japanese oriented, which I liked a lot.
I only did take-out, so I didn't have the full experience of the full-on service and everything. The wait was reasonable, all things considered. However, my only complaint was that my sushi was a bit warm as if it had been left at room temperature for a long while. And their tempura wasn't very crispy/crunchy. It was a bit dull. I liked the udon very much. I'm not sure what kind it was, but it was great.
Overall, I would recommend it there, but it's not exactly the cheapest thing in the world.

Very Unique
Submitted Tuesday, April 29, 2008 - 8:57pm [Dine in]

They don't just serve typical Japanese food that we're probably used to...namely sushi. They serve Japanese food that has an unexpected, but very pleasing twist.
I had some sort of udon which was very good, but ended up feeling sick after eating it...I don't know if it was the food or something else. But still. My friend also had some sort of Japanese rice with some sort of broth/soup and eel. It looked pretty cool but apparently didn't taste that awesome.
My other friend had rare beef tongue ...which is the first i've seen so that was pretty cool. And the waitresses were very patient and considerate when they helped my friend find something filling and tasty. So the service was pretty darn good
I would definitely recommend people to here to eat unique japanese food :)

Quite hidden...even the washroom
Submitted Tuesday, April 29, 2008 - 8:47pm [Dine in]

I ate there for the first time about a week ago. From the outside look, I thought it would be a dirty, smelly restaurant, but I was proven wrong. The inside is surprisingly traditional-looking and the people are really friendly. My boyfriend and I went at a pretty random time (2:00 PM on a Wednesday for All-You-Can-Eat) and it was about $11 each. And the food isn't too bad. There is a maximum amount of certain things you can order, but I don't recall what they were exactly.
The yam tempura was not very good, nor was the avacado roll...or at least that's what I think it was. Both cones that I ate had super soggy seaweed...but everything else was pretty decent.
I don't think I'm going to eat there anytime soon, but if you want cheap sushi, this is the place to go!

BTW, the washroom is on the left immediately after you enter, and when I went, none of the lights were on, so you just have to walk straight ahead (for girls) and stop just short of the end and turn right (for guys). Just a heads up because I was super confused when i went!

Nice lighting!
Submitted Tuesday, April 29, 2008 - 8:39pm [Dine in]

I've eaten there prior to and after the renovation and both were good experiences. With the new renovations, I think it's really up-ed it professionalism because it just looks better.
The food was pretty good. I don't remember what I ordered, but I do remember enjoying the experience, nonetheless.
the only thing I'd have to say is that the restaurant is pretty cramped and usually at night there are loads and loads of people, and it's hard to manuever. And of course, because of the large population of Felico's customers, there is likely to be noise. Lots of it. So be warned!
Otherwise a pretty decent place to eat!

Like many people have said, the service is not hot. Neither is the mood of their restaurant. I don't eat pho very often, so I thought it wasn't bad. But everytime I go there, the servers look like they're in a crumby mood. And personally, I don't think the restaurant itself looks very put together.

Submitted Monday, August 13, 2007 - 2:47pm [Dine in]

I think their service is good. Their food gets boring after a while, if you go there often, like I. But it's not bad. It's never been cooked poorly or anything. They once sang happy birthday to me in front of the whole restaurant, and made me stand up on my chair, which was embarassing, but it was fun!

I've been there a few times, and I've never been overly impressed with their service or the way they treat their customers. They're very rude sometimes. The food is okay. It's filling, and it's decent.
