Food is delicious. Ordered smoked salmon and cream cheese roll, mango roll, beef sashimi, and oysters. All of them were very very good! But be warned...it IS expensive. Rolls range from $4-20. But it is so worth it! Service was pretty good too. Nothing to complain about :)
i wish i could eat here every night!
Food: My boyfriend and I ordered escargot and bacon tarts for our appetizers. The bacon tart was delicious but the escargot was only alright. As a main, I had the pork chop and my boyfriend had the tenderloin. Both of which were cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed my meal :)
Service: I expected a little more. The servers seemed unorganized. We had the specials read to us twice and then there was a bit of confusion as to who was going to take our order. But they did what they needed to do. They got the food out, they took our plates..etc.
Value: It was worth it, but it's not the cheapest place to go.
Ambiance: Very small little place. It's cute, but a little crowded.
Food: their milkshakes are good and i had the hot wheat germ milk tea, which was okay. nothing special, just like every other bbt place
Service: they're nice people, but it's such a small place, you'd think that they'd check up on you at least one or twice. but no, they took our order after 10 minutes and gave us our drinks. and that was the last of them. it's even hard to flag down their attention. but they didn't mess up on our order or anything.
Value: It's definitely not a cheap place to go because i've seen cheaper bubble tea places. my hot milk tea was 4.25 for a small and i think 5 for a large. Milkshake was around $6, I think.
Ambiance: Small, quiet place. They have cute couches that could seat up to about 6 people and they also have normal tables.
Parking is in the back, but since other places along alexandra share that parking lot, it might be difficult to find a spot, depending on what time you go.
FOOD: It sucks for the people who didn't get to experience the delicious-ness of the burger I had, and for those who have...isn't it awesome?! My burger was great!! One of the best burgers I've ever had, or possibly the best! The patty was juicy and fresh, so I suggest you eat it before the fries. My milkshake was good too!!
SERVICE: Everyone was so nice and friendly. They were fast and attentive. Thumbs up!
VALUE: Expect to spend at least $13 there. But it's well worth it and you will be satisfied!
AMBIANCE: I've never seen a restaurant like this. It's more like an old fashioned diner and it looks so genuinely genuine!
I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND EATING HERE!
I always come here when I want to treat myself or if I just want to sit down with a friend and chat. It's just perfect. I loooooove their desserts. There are so many to choose from, that I always have trouble deciding. But you can never go wrong with chocolate and/or cheesecake! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a simple yet delicious snack. It's a lot more worth it then going to a restaurant just to order dessert.
This place is awesome!
FOOD: prawn cakes, malaysian bread, pork chops, skewers...they were all so good and they were all mildy spicy/came with spicy sauce. But the menu tells you if something is super spicy or not, just in case you're not a fan of it.
SERVICE: I'm not very good with spicy foods, so I was downing my water pretty quick. Luckily my server was equally quick to fill up my glass. He was fast with taking the order and with getting extra utensils we needed.
VALUE: Some things seem a little overpriced, like a plate of veggies for 12 bucks. But for the most part it's pretty average priced.
AMBIANCE: It nice because there are windows all over the place. But it gets really crowded some times and it can get really loud.
I would definitely recommend going here!
Food - I ordered a chicken caesar salad, so it's hard to rate the food based on a simple salad. Nonetheless, it was a good salad! The chicken was not dry and there wasn't too much/too little dressing. Although my friend who ordered another type of salad was missing the sunflower seeds, raisins, and such. For dessert, I ordered the apple crumble and I dunno, it just wasn't that good.
Service - Seated right away. Had a party of 10, and were welcomed and greeted quickly and pleasantly. Our waiter was great and had a great sense of humour. Helped my friend get though missing seeds from her salad without trouble.
Value - Like most other western restaurants. My salad cost around $12.50 and dessert was almost $7. Not too horrific, but there are cheaper places out there.
Ambiance - Very family friendly. Nicely lit. Clean and welcoming!
FOOD: terrible. I'm sorry, but it was the worst pesto chicken linguine I've ever had and there was way too much olive oil. And my boyfriend agreed that it was tasteless and bland. My boyfriend ordered the mushroom burger and he didn't like the sauce in it.
SERVICE: our server was nice and friendly, but he was very persistent and a little annoying. He would come by to ask if we needed anything and even after we said no, he would ask if we needed pepper, mustard, or ketchup. I just felt like he didn't know what he was doing and he was very scattered and unorganized. He might have been new, but I expected a little more.
Value: Compared to many other restaurants, this one is good with prices and affordable for most people. I think I would've given a higher rating if I actually liked the food.
Ambiance: It's nice in there and there's a little outside courtyard area the middle of the restaurant. We got seated near the back of the restaurant and it was extremely cold. The air conditioning was on and for some it may have been refreshing and nice, but I thought it was too cold. Otherwise it's a comfy place to go.
I used to enjoy coming here, but after several very disappointing visits, I never want to go again.
The food is fine. Its just like every other bubble tea place.
The service is beyond poor. They've forgotten my pearls/coconut jelly, written down the wrong order and taken way too long to make drinks and food. So I don't recommend coming here if you actually want to be served.
Food: Average bubble tea stuff
Service: UGH. Is it so hard to get a drink at a bubble tea restaurant?! It took them 40 minutes to get a drink for my friend and I and in addition, they messed up by not putting the pearls in. Which seems to be a common mistake at this joint. My experience there gets worse and worse each time.
Value: Considering they always mess up and that it takes so long, I don't think its worth it.
Ambiance: Its usually really loud there and I find myself on the verge of yelling when I talk to people. Otherwise, it's "decent"
I don't remember ever leaving pearl castle a happy camper.
i ordered an earl grey milk tea, and there was pudding in it.
another time, my drink took a ridiculously long time (30 minutes or more?) and i had to ask them to check on my drink TWICE.
the wait is always really long, and you can't make reservations.
i would not recommend this place.
it was really hot the day i went, and the inside, was even warmer! its really cramped inside as well but luckily there weren't too many people inside at the time. the service was okay. our server seemed very nervous to be serving us and didn't seem super happy to be working. i ordered a chicken pita wrap, and it was delicious!! the orange slice and lettuce garnish didn't really help at all. The orange looked dry and the lettuce was dying. BUT, the wrap was still amazing!
Food: I ordered the grilled kalamari lunch. pilaf and potato were great, the kalamari was okay.
Service: Our waitress was great. came by every once in a while to check up on us and was nice. although, she could have put a little more enthusiasm into her work!
Ambiance: I love love love the interior! It's so beautiful and nice and comforting and they play greek music and it's just wonderful inside!!
I really enjoy coming here to eat, however, I went yesterday and discovered that the menu had changed, and I didn't enjoy myself as much. Nonetheless I still like it there.
FOOD : I've ordered beef rice noodle (probably more detailed name than that, but i don't know what else to call it) and some sort of fried noodle. I didn't like the fried noodles because they added curry (without mentioning the addition of this spice on the menu) so i was quite surprised by that. the dish did not taste bad, however, i would have preferred something else, or just plain.
SERVICE : very nice waitresses who work there! service is good, no complaints.
VALUE : i'm always very full after eating there. the prices changed too, i think. but it's not too bad. my curry noodles and drink came to roughly $15. If i don't share my food, i pack it up each time.
AMBIANCE : I like it there. it's cozy, not too busy everywhere. quiet, calm :)
FOOD: matcha slush was so good! it's like the green tea frappucino from starbucks. i also had some fried udon dish, which i thought was really good (and filling) as well!
SERVICE: well there is a little service button at each table, so the service was inevitably solid. however, unlike other restaurants they never check up on you or anything, which really isn't that big of a problem to me. but i suspect that if there were more people, the service would not have been as good.
VALUE: like many other bubble tea restaurants, but the bbt is a littttle more expensive. bubble tea ranges from $4-5.25, or something, and food varies from $4.50-7.95
AMBIANCE: i really liked it in there. it was clean and quiet, very peaceful. I just liked the way everything was arranged, especially where there are panels of glass that cover little displays! you'll know what i mean when you go there!
Food - My boyfriend and I only ordered dessert (Ek Bek & Chocolate Eruption) both of which were decent, not fantastic. We didn't have any of the 'real food' so I can't really rate anything else.
Service - Took a little while to be seated/greeted, but there was only one server and the manager. After we were seated, however, service was good.
Value - The desserts were not the cheapest things in the world, but they were the average price ranging from 6-8 dollars.
Ambiance - Cozy place that is small and comfortable. Great view because it has windows all around, and Steveston is a great place to look at!
Service - Seated right away. Had a party of 10, and were welcomed and greeted quickly and pleasantly. Our waiter was great and had a great sense of humour. Helped my friend get though missing seeds from her salad without trouble.
Value - Like most other western restaurants. My salad cost around $12.50. Not too horrific, but there are cheaper salads out there.
Ambiance - Very family friendly. Nicely lit. Clean and welcoming!
Food - I did not enjoy the complementary jello that comes with large meals. It just didn't taste good! The short rib noodles in soup that I ordered was okay. The noodles and soup were good, the ribs, not so much.
Service - Very nice, pleasant, accommodating.
Value - Price for noodles and rice range from 8-11 dollars, I believe. So it's pretty good. It's like any other bubble tea joint, though.
Ambiance - Although it was squished, it was very comfy feeling. Washrooms were also ridiculously nice and clean!
I went there once at like 10 pm, or something, with 3 of my other friends. We were seated immediately which was nice, and asked if we'd like anything. And we just wanted some more time to look at the menu.
Then we ordered, food AND bubble tea. Our bubble tea came out within 10 minutes, so it wasn't a huge wait or anything.
Then they never came back to check on us, and we were left stranded there behind this little booth thing, and they couldn't see us. My friends got there food, but I never got my deep fried chicken knees. I thought that they would eventually give it to me, or at least explain why there is such a long wait, but no. I waited and waited, and had to find a waitress to check on my food. Apparently it hadn't even been made yet. Thus another 15-20 minutes.
They apologized and "gave me extras" but it didn't look any different from a normal dish.
They didn't come back to check on us. And right after I finished, we left (2 hours later).
I don't think I'll be going there any time soon. Their bubble tea is decent though.
I've only done take out there, and out of all three times, the sushi has been warm. They leave it out on the counter, waiting in room temperature for the unexpecting, hungry-hippo customers.
Yes, the sushi is huge. Each piece is larger than any sushi I've eaten at other restaurants, but that doesn't mean that the food shouldn't be good.
The service is pretty good. There's always a hostess there and they take your orders quickly and give you good timing for when the sushi will be ready.
My family keeps ordering it simply because of the value. However, I personally don't enjoy my sashimi warm.
