My friend and I always argue over restaurants because he is a vegetarian and isn't overly supportive of my carnivore ways. The Chili Pepper House is the only place that both of us agree on.
They have the best hot and spicy crispy tofu in town. I would be happy to eat just that but we usually pick a couple of vegetable dishes and I get my chicken.
The decor reminds me of great East side Greasy spoons that have all seemed to have disappeared. This is very obviously a family run business and the service that I have received has always been excellent.

I eat out alot and at different price points. I have no problem shelling out big bucks for great food and excellent wine. However, being of Scottish heritage, I am very pleased when I find a place that serves great food at very reasonable prices.
The last time that I was here I ordered the Louisanna Chicken and my husband had the steak and spagetti special. Both were excellent. The wine list is small but I enjoyed an Australian Cab/Shiraz. The highlight of the evening was home made Backlava. I understand that the owner's mom makes it fresh.
The service was friendly and very prompt. They seemed to know half of the patrons by name and it was a full restaurant. I will certainly return myself.
