Dairy Queen Grill & Chill20492 Lougheed Hwy, Maple Ridge
It's Dary Queen
Submitted Monday, May 25, 2009 - 11:19pm [Dine in]

It's Dairy Queen. They serve Dairy Queen. There's a drive through and a lobby.

Drive through service can be slow because it seems that the six people working the front counter are more concerned with the two customers inside.

But, there's always the nostalgia of the Dairy Queen basket of onion rings and this location is a lot quieter the the other one at the west end of town.

End of review.

Iori Sushi22709 Lougheed Hwy, #620, Maple Ridge
A Japanese spot to check out
Submitted Monday, January 8, 2007 - 11:52pm [Dine in]

On a spontaneous check of this restaurant one cold rainy day when my usual haunts were too busy to even think about entering, I was very glad that I popped in for a bite to eat.

Probably the fastest service I have ever encountered at a Japanese sit-down restaurant. From the time I stepped in the door, got seated at the sushi bar and started being served, a total of 4 minutes passed by. A light lunch of Ebi Sunomono, Chicken Yakitori with Kappa Maki was very affordable the the quality was superior to most of the quick service Japanese Sushi houses that dot the Lower Mainland.

Clean surroundings and pleasantly plated dishes makes this little hole in the wall (unless you're looking for it, you'll walk by) a quiet and plesant stop to make for lunch or dinner.

Haney Dragon Chinese Restaurant22242 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Maple Ridge
Chinese Sit Down with Great Service
Submitted Monday, January 8, 2007 - 11:44pm [Dine in]

It's hard to review chinese sit down restaurants when there are so many offering the same menu or dishes.

Having been to the Haney Dragon Chinese Restaurant a number of times attests to the difference that this family owned business offers.

When dealing with sit down chinese restaurants, you are usually dealing with the same type of menu, same Canadian-Chinese dishes, with service, ambiance and quality the only factors that set each restaurant apart.

With the "Haney", the service is by far the most outstanding I have ever encountered at a sit down Chinese restaurant. Friendly, fast and unrushed is the best way to decribe the service here. My experience at other Chinese restaurants is usually to encounter a "rushed" sense of service. This is simply not the case here. Each time I have been here, whether it has been with a small group or a large one, the service has always been friendly and unhurried, but quick at the same time. Leaving you with gettingyour food hot and fast, without feeling that you have bothered the waitress with your patronage.

I have been here with small children too and the staff are very accomodating in terms of fetching high chairs and booster seats, in addition to creating a small dish of kid-friendly menu items - no spicy squid with salt here!

The food quality is above average, top notch standard Chinese fare. The option of leaving MSG out is a welcome addition to the menu choices for those that are sensitive to it.

The restuarant is clean and almost always slow to moderately busy.

Ridge Coffee Roasting House22470 Dewdney Trunk Road, 170, Maple Ridge
Worthy of regular visits
Submitted Monday, January 8, 2007 - 7:13am [Dine in]

In an area that is saturated with coffee houses of the corporate domination type, the Ridge Coffee Roasting House seems to steadily gaining popularity as an alternative to the usual coffee haunts. It has become a regular stop on my trips through downtown Maple Ridge.

The coffees are of superior quality, brewed fresh as you order and served hot with access to the regular toppings and flavorings. The free wireless internet is a bonus and there is almost always an entire table open for just you or your party to sit at.

Popular jazz favorites are piped through the speakers and on a regular basis, local jazz artists are invited to play the stage set up in one of the corners.

The menu follows a standard course of cafe / coffee house offerings with fresh baked goods, bubbling soups and pre made sandwiches available.

Honestly, a great place to grab a half decent coffee or specialty coffee in an uncrowded clean restaurant.

Knight and Day Restaurant20395 Lougheed Hwy, Maple Ridge
Currently Closed
Submitted Monday, January 8, 2007 - 6:54am [Dine in]

Westgate Mall, the shopping mall that the Knight and Day is a part of, is undergoing a major facelift and since fall last year, the Knight and Day has been closed.

It's confusing to determined whether this restaurant is going to reopen as the windows are covered and although other businesses have remained open during the renovations, the Knight and Day has been closed.

Home Restaurant21667 Lougheed Hwy, Maple Ridge
Decent place but busy
Submitted Monday, January 8, 2007 - 6:50am [Dine in]

Every time I have been to the Home Restaurant on Lougheed Highway, there always is a lineup and wait time of 15 to 20 minutes. Which is a compliment to the restaurant but very frustrating when you're looking for a sit down meal and you're hungry.

Offerings are the typical home style favorites like fried appetizers, soups, comfort food and cakes and pies, all in a cozy setting of eclectic antqiues and brown hued accents.

Staff always seem to be in a rush though, which is one reason why this restaurant has not become a favorite of mine.

Prices are what you would expect of a sit down homestyle pancake house diner.

Maple Rich Restaurant22504 Lougheed Hwy, Maple Ridge
Ownership / Name Changed
Submitted Monday, January 8, 2007 - 6:33am [Dine in]

When doing business as Ehan, this restaurant was on my speed dial for really good affordable chinese food. Fast, no nonsense service, huge portions.

Since October 2006, this restaurant has been under new ownership doing business as Maple Rich Restaurant.

Having sampled the new product, it's not as good as when it was Ehan. Although it's the only place in Maple Ridge where you can get fresh Chinese BBQ pork by the pound. Although still decent chinese take out food with average portions, the dining room has something to be desired. Missing the original asian paintings that adorned the walls previously, hand made posters adorn the walls now with photographs of their culinary offerings with handwritten descriptions and prices. The tables and chairs fall into the non-descript bowling alley faux wood laminate covering and vinyl style. The floor should have been replaced years ago. But everything is clean and tidy.

Do the takeout, dine in if you have to.
