Bawan's Donair & Pizza1453 West Broadway, Vancouver
very delicious take-out
Submitted Thursday, May 27, 2010 - 4:37pm [Dine in]

I grabbed a chicken donair and the tomato and vegetable soup (can't recall the Greek name as is listed on the menu), and both are very delicious. The donair looked and tasted as if it has a second meat type in there as well... Not a complaint, just an observation. It added another pleasant flavor! heh...

The server was friendly, and offered a glass of water during my brief wait for the take-out. On top of all this, the prices were very reasonable.

Chao Phraya Thai Restaurant2325 Cambie Street, Vancouver
modest place, boring food
Submitted Sunday, August 16, 2009 - 12:33pm [Dine in]

I stopped in there last night for the first time, and decided to try the chicken with peanut sauce and vegetables that I tend to like at other places. Service was good and so on, but the dish was so boring and flavorless that I nearly stopped eating out of boredom. But hey, at least chicken and vegetables have nutritional value and the portion size was good, so I kept eating. One easy way to judge a restaurant is "could I have done better at home?" and in this case, the answer is most definitely yes.

my first visit, but certainly not the last
Submitted Sunday, January 7, 2007 - 2:08am [Dine in]

I stopped in for lunch today with my gf, after a friend from work drew my attention to a solid review in a local paper (I forget which one). The first thing I noticed was the clean and stylish interior design. We had not made a reservation, but arrived to find an open table or two, and were seated immediately by a friendly and enthusiastic server.

We both had the red curry; her with chicken, mine with beef. Her soup and my starter salad were both tasty, and the dishes were put together in a manner very appealing to the eye. Not only that, the prices are *very* reasonable.

The service all the way through was excellent; the ambiance was upbeat but not loud. This visit left me with the belief that Luck, Anne, and company very much care what they deliver to their guests. Not since my recent move to Vancouver have I enjoyed a restaurant experience as much. (for those of you who need to find yourselves in Winnipeg in the future, a similar experience might be found at 'One Night In Bangkok', downtown.)

I'm not the least bit curious to find another Thai restaurant in Vancouver after this visit. Needless to say I'm very pleased, and I think anyone who likes Thai food (or is curious to try) should treat themselves to a visit to O Thai.
