Awful Dining Experience
Submitted Friday, January 11, 2008 - 12:20am [Dine in]

I was very excited to eat here since the last time I had dined at De Dutch was in Victoria several years ago. I chose the Robson one thinking it would be nice to eat somewhere on Robson and thought it was closer to the shops. I needed some change for the meter so I went into the restaurant hoping to get some change. The waitress saw me enter and wait for her. She was taking an order from two men and continued to laugh and smile with them as I waited. Finally she same to the cash register and I asked for change for a one dollar bill. She seemed annoyed and asked "just one dollar?" I left to put change in the meter. My husband and I came in and waited for her to seat us. Once again she looked at us and then said we could sit wherever we wanted. We waited for her to continue her smiling and laughing with the two male customers and finally took our food order.

Once we got our food she NEVER asked how our food was or even bothered to refill my coffee BUT went around to every other table to refill coffee. At this point I am thinking maybe she does not like Asian people because I cannot figure out what her problem is. She continues to joke and laugh with the two male customers. Basically she was too busy flirting with the two male customers and ignored us and the other customers.

I realize this is not a Fine Dining restaurant BUT I do have some expectations for any restaurant I dine at. I do not expect to be ignored or treated like I do not even exist. This has to be by far probably the worst I have experienced. I left no TIP which I have probably never done before.

It was so disappointing because we had just spent a wonderful, glorious weekend in Vancouver for the first time and this is how it had to end. I will NEVER dine here again and I will certainly share my experience with others.
