An Interesting Experience
Submitted Sunday, March 3, 2013 - 1:27am [Dine in]

Me and the significant came in for dinner the other night.
We live in North Van and there aren't many Korean restaurants in the area so we decided to give it a try.

We were seated quickly and there were only two wait staff on when we came in and the owner?
Some tables have a service bell so when you need the staff just press the button.

We pressed the button a few times, I think they were having dinner at the same time when we wanted to order (they sat in the front of a tv watching Running Man while eating) so it took some time for them to come and take our order and give us some tea/water.

We ordered two Tong Galbi for $28.95 per order (they told us we had to have minimum 2 orders while it says on the menu you can order one but the waitress told us that its only available at lunch when later our friends told us that they ordered one so we were kind of like ... what the heck) and we thought it would be quite a lot of meat, but to our suprise it was four longish pieces of meat and really not worth the price. The waitress had trouble trying to light the grill as well as trying to place the meat on the grill until my boyfriend told her that we can do it ourselves. I'm not sure how fresh the meat was either because it was all grey but it could be the marinade? I was really hesitant in eating it but it tasted all right the side dishes were fresh and plentiful though.

One thing we thought was weird was when the waitress stood in front of our table while we ate... it was really awkward. I'm not sure if she was watching us but it seemed like she was... lol.

Overall we probably wouldn't go back since we know we can get the same quality bbq meat elsewhere (and more quantity) as well as we were questioning the freshness of the bbq meat. Plus the staff were kind of strange.

Birthday Dinner
Submitted Wednesday, June 22, 2011 - 1:02am [Dine in]

Went here for dinner with my boyfriend, was quite busy for a Tuesday night.

Waitress was quite informative on the specials.

I had the Veal chop, was alright... i had ordered it medium rare, some parts were a little over cooked and some parts were a little raw which i found odd, the shitakes they added tasted off to me. Boyfriend had the Baked salmon which was amazing! wish i had that :( haha. You can also special order whole cakes which was a pleasant surprise.

In the end you can't pay with debit which we found surprising, so the boyfriend left me sitting alone for about 15 minutes while he looked for an atm, a waiter had offered to sit with me while i waited though haha.

Overall would go back, but would bring cash lol

Went there with my significant other for dinner at 8:30 pm on a Tuesday night, the waiting staff were quite rude, the chefs were pleasant though. The waitress told us that they closed at 9:30 pm and that we had to pay first and eat quickly but it was an hour before closing so we did not know why they were rushing us, when another couple had come in after us and were treated wel and not rushed (they were sitting beside us) However we knew what we wanted and ordered.

Food was alright, standard maki/bento boxes and such nothing special. We didn't receive water or tea, nor did the table have soya sauce and when we asked for it they never brought it over, my boyfriend had to get up and get it himself, after 15 minutes having not received water/tea and finished our rolls we decided to leave.

When we had paid earlier we decided not to leave a tip until we knew how the service/food was. We were kind of peeved over our experience, while my boyfriend went to the washroom one of the chef's asked how much we left for a tip (in cantonese) to the waitress, we had left $1 (I wanted to leave nothing), the waitress was mad i guess and said $1 and called us cheap in chinese, i was mad, what do you expect when you give us such bad service?

Overall, would not go back.
