We ordered the Memphis Feast platter for $44.00, one lemonade and a water. Wow this place is expensive for what you get. Don't get me wrong, it IS a big platter, however the quality of the food is not. I really, really did not enjoy eating ANY of this and ended up getting a slice of pizza on the drive. I will say though my boyfriend loved it, maybe we have different tastes and expectations of food. I found all the meat tasted really old and it grossed me out. It had a 'frost'-bitten taste or something, just it wasn't right. You order at the till, which is fine but then they expect you to tip. Which I'm not cheap so I gave $5 bucks, thinking that at least the server walking around doing nothing would grab refills, ask how your doing, how the food is or if you needed to take anything to go...NOPE she just directs you to grab your own stuff...literally, we asked for my lemonade to be refilled and our water, she said, " you can get it yourself from the front". Later we asked if we could get the platter wrapped up to go, she said, "you can do it yourself, the boxes are at the front". It took us 10min, we wrapped up everything but needed a bag to it all in, we asked for one...you can guess what her answer was. We felt rushed too while packing as people were standing right beside our table staring at us waiting to sit. Then the server came over and was like "are you guys finished?" and started wiping the table. We couldn't even let the food digest. What a waste of any tip!
My parents were in town visiting and wanting pizza. We had never ordered from Bella pizza before, the prices seemed reasonable. Would be awesome if it was 2 for 1 though. We ordered 1 medium all-dressed pizza, a dozen wings and garlic bread. I was really pleased with the pizza, my only complaint is that I'm not a huge fan of tons of cheese. Some people like it, but I would prefer more toppings and less cheese. Other than that the crust was really good and the sauce was delicious. The wings were pretty good, nothing incredible. I would definitely order from here again!
After moving to a new place I had a hard time finding a decent sushi place around Kingsway. I'm so happy I found this place. It's cheap, the restaurant is very clean and the service was great. Both the maki rolls AND the rice bowls were really good...which is hard to find. I just wish I remembered to grab a take-out menu! There isn't very much online about this place. I'll post a menu next time I go!
Let's just put it this way, I had to make dinner after we ordered take out from this place because it was THAT bad we couldn't stomach eating it. What a waste of $20 bucks. I ordered a dynamite, BC and california...the three easiest rolls to make but they were unedible. My bf ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl and for the first time I Ever, he too couldn't eat his meal. The service when we went in to pick up the food was bad too, she very unfriendly.
We ordered two combo's from this place, must say it wasn't very good. The rice was the worst rice I have ever eaten. The sweet and sour pork tasted old and stale. Just bad all around. We will never order from here again, just really did not enjoy the food.
I've eaten in and have gotten take-out from this place many times ONLY because of their location and proximity to our house and because we have no choice there isn't any other sushi places close by that are open such late hours. The food is not very good and not worth the price. Consistently every time I have ordered take-out I end up sitting reading the magazines waiting WAY longer than expected. The last time I ordered $20 dollars worth of food and he said it would take 30 min's, so I showed up a few min's late knowing they take longer but I ended up waiting in my car for another 25 min's because he said they were 'busy'. There was only one person rolling sushi and he was running around like crazy. They are obviously under-staffed in the back and because of this the food is just bad to eat. The rolls are sloppy, not very good, same with everything else I have eaten from there.
I regularly order take out from this place usually getting the inside out roll combo for 10 bucks, I have never had a bad experience at this place. I have never eaten in the restaurant. Every time I order to go, it is always ready on time and I never have to wait. My boyfriend loves the rice bowls from this place. The only one complaint I have is that I have been wanting to try the Seafood Motoyaki for $5 dollars but everytime I ask for it they never have it. Other than that I really enjoy this place.
I know this place is just trying to get by so I feel bad writing this review, but we will NEVER go to this place again. We have ordered take out and every single time we have had to wait 3 times as long if not more than they have told us. The last time we went there, we ordered just 2 bento box's to go (ahead of time), they said it would take 30 minutes. So when we arrived we expected them to be ready...not even close. We watched as other came in and left with theirs, we sat patiently and very hungry. Only one guy who spoke very little English (an older male) was working the till and he seemed uncomfortable and very stressed. I felt bad for him. Anyways 20 more min's passed and we went up and asked how much longer, he said "almost ready"...then another 20 min's passed...STILL NO FOOD we we're getting ready to walk out after waiting over an 1hr and 20min's. Then he came out hold 10 BENTO BOXES! We we're like "Umm we just ordered 2, then he just looked at us with a blank stare and grabbed the piece of paper or order form and said "No 10", anyways safe to say we left with the only 2 we ordered and never went back. And my food was cold and I couldn't even eat it, we ended up just going to freshslice in the end...a horrible, crappy evening!
We brought my mother-in-law to this restaurant because we wanted to show off this place...after searching for soooo long to find a good greek restaurant we finally found one. Every time we have been to this place the service has been awesome. They're quick, very friendly and our food has never taken very long. Even though every single time we've gone there it's been super packed and busy. In relation to other Greek restaurants we've been to, this place is priced well and the portion sizes are huge. I can never finish my plate.
When we first moved to Vancouver we were sooo tired after a long day of unpacking we hopped on the 135 from SFU and randomly got off on Hastings. We glanced around at our new surroundings and saw Romana. Our first memories of moving to a new city, starting our lives together, opening a new chapter... began in this quaint little restaurant. We were the only two dining that evening at 8:00pm and the romantic feel of the restaurant was present. The server was an older lady, very friendly and she was not working just to receive a tip...you could tell she really enjoyed being there. We had Kalamari ($10) and house wine ($6) to start...perfect pairing and extremely delicious. My boyfriend ordered the 'classic' pizza for $13 and I the Melizano Piato for $15. I'm not lying when I say that this was the best meal we have had in years!! We were nervous for the bill since we felt like we ate beyond our budget, but walked away spending less than 50! For special occasions or even just to reminisce we always return to Romana. We will truly miss this restaurant when we move.
This place is really affordable and you get a lot of food!! The bento box's are great, just remember this place mostly does 'to-go' orders. Great rolls, one of my favorite places to order from when you are on a budget!! It's a really small restaurant, the outside and inside decor is deceiving because this place is great, very popular too.
If you like Greek food then try this place! There are plenty of affordable things on the menu...especially the appy's. The more expensive items are worth the price. I didn't like the decor inside, to each is own! The server was super friendly and our food was awesome. You must like garlic, if you try the dips, especially the eggplant!
My boyfriend and I love going here on weekends instead of the more expensive restaurants like Ihop or Dedutch for breakfast. This place is very affordable...also I like that the menu has a 'no-meat' option at a lower price. I haven't been there for a dinner yet but we will soon! The service is always great, usually it's one male, I think he is the owner. There are plenty of regulars he's always chatting with and he's always there to offer you more fresh coffee. The food comes quick too! It's a comfortable place to chat and there is a balcony/deck in the back for hot summer days.
