Pho Hoa765 Fort St, Victoria
Vietnamese, quickly!

If I want Vietnamese take out, this is the spot. I can call on my cell (parked at a red light) and order my 31 or 33 with side of fresh salad rolls and in 5 minutes roll out the door with food in hand. The produce is always fresh and clean and the Pho broth is simple and has the right amount of spices and fat. For a sit down dinner, it feels a touch cheap and impersonal but service is fast and friendly enough. I prefer across the street or further up Fort (Saigon Night) for a nice sit down with friends and family but take out, you can't beat Pho Hoa. The back door has a new sign on it that reads "broken" or something but the scoop is that they just want people coming in through the front now. PS, don't order Pho soup to go unless you are prepared to re-heat the broth enough to cook the beef, or order it with the meatballs instead of steak...

Still good...prices keep climbing

I agree with the last reviewer that not all changes after the reno are positive. That being said, there is no other place that I think of that I can roll in (ha) and grab some well made sushi, wasabi peas, and pocati sweat drink and cruise out the door in less than 2 minutes (unless its rush hour, when the line up can be out the door). The staff are super efficient to the point of me risking some positive racial profiling and calling them Japanese-efficient. The miso soup is still 99 cents for a large and overall it is still a good value to get a meal that fills you up and is mostly healthy. The only real drawback is the parking lot -I've come close to being rear ended a few times by mini mama-sans (like my own mom, sigh) who drive with one foot on the gas and the other on the brake, alternating between the two or better yet using both at the same time!

Come for the food...stay for the music

Every time I find myself standing in line at one of the many overcrowded and over-hyped breakfast joints in Victoria, I am amazed that someone doesn't figure out that the market is there for an affordable greasy spoon without pretension. Cabin 12 is exactly that. Good service from people who actually enjoy their jobs and a funky decor that isn't trying too hard to be funky. I walked in to Janice Joplin played on lp and enjoyed Dylan and others while enjoying my meal. I couldn't decide between breakfast or lunch so I ordered the "El Jefe" fried egg sandwich which is apparently made differently every time. It was simple and delicious and the price was right. I usually don't give 5 stars unless my expectations are exceeded by some margin and I fully back up the 5 star rating on the service and value. It was simple, friendly, cheap, fast and good, 'nuff said.
