I went for my best friend's birthday party. The flavours were amazing and the environment was warm and inviting. Having a persian best friend, I aquired a taste for Iranian cuisine and now LOVE it. So I give it a solid rating. However, the service was a bit slow and confusing. There was english and farsi flying all over the place and our waitress seemed pretty aloof. I think I'd have been in trouble if I didn't have friends there to translate my order into Farsi for the waitress to understand.
It's a small business in a small space, but I think their sushi is top notch for the particular niche they're in. Cheap, yet large portions are common goals in the sushi business and unfortunatly quality and freshness often get compromised. Fortunately I have found at Royal Oak that they never compromise freshness. The rice always tastes new, the sashimi always has that nice crisp/cool taste to it and after the first few visits the staff became like old friends - they remember impressive little details and taste preferences and are always friendly. I love it there and would recommend it to anyone. The only thing I wish they had was a better developed tempura menu.
I've been a loyal take out customer of Royal Tandoori for 3 years now. I have definately had frustrating moments in that time, but am willing to put it all aside for their fantastic butter chicken and naan bread. I've had most of the other menu items at one point or another, but I find I keep coming back for the butter chicken... the rest is just... meh, average. I dined in their restaurant once and the environment was cold and uncomfortable, slow service. The wait for food was also a bit long, so I recommend that you only do take out... make sure if you do an order for pick up that you give them at least 30min to prepare the food... DO NOT just drop in with a to-go order and wait (you'll be there forever) and if you get them to deliver - it could be about an hour, but worth it I say. So despite rather slow service, if you're willing to plan your meal in advance they are the way to go. If you want something spontaneous and quick... maybe try elsewhere - I hear "Baba Sweets" is good. Cheers!
