Delicious Roast Lamb
Submitted Friday, February 18, 2011 - 1:32am [Dine in]

I've been to Sparta several times now and have always enjoyed my meal. If you like roast Lamb, this is the place for you. The portion is big, and the roast is tender and very flavourful. Their calamari is also excellent.
I find their portions are great and the service is wonderful. I live in Richmond but it's well worth the drive for a great Greek meal!

A smile goes a long way

I've been to the Mad Greek a couple of times now; however, the last time I went I was so disappointed that I won't return. I believe our server was the owner or the owner's wife, but I could be mistaken. Nonetheless, she was unfriendly and rude. My friend that I went with was from back east and was accustomed to the servers yelling out 'OPA' while lighting the cheese aflame (Saganaki). When we asked our server about this custom, she quite rudely stated that she's from Greece and they never do that, and it's not true Greek tradition. It wasn't the comment so much as it was the attitude that I found rude. You would have thought we asked them to cut their arm off.
The food itself was good, but I was quite shocked with having to pay extra for Pita bread! Seriously, how much is an order of Pita bread? Apparently if you order for pick up, the Pita bread is included; go figure?

Where's the food?
Submitted Monday, July 20, 2009 - 11:56am [Dine in]

I had heard so much about the Blue Canoe; however, was disappointed with my meal. I had ordered fish and chips. The batter was overdone and the portion was small. My friend ordered a pesto pasta with prawns which was very good but they initially brought out the child's portion. They quickly brought out the adult's meal when they realized their mistake. I feel we paid too much for the little amount of food on our plates. The ambiance however, was wonderful. For this reason alone, I would be willing to go back and try something else on their menu.
