Better Than I expected
Submitted Friday, August 1, 2008 - 9:42am [Dine in]

Went her for a late dinner with a group of friends and not expecting anything good based on previous experiences. However it was a good surprise. Mabye because I stuck to the burger versus anything complicated. A very good mushroom burger with a good size patty and nice bun. I never put much thought into the bun, but this was really good. Fries were average. Tried the rice bowl previously and it was just OK. Would go back but stick to the basics. Very good service where all drinks were refilled, re-order promptly. Nice bar area for sports watching.

Nice
Submitted Monday, July 21, 2008 - 9:51am [Dine in]

Nice little Japanese reataurant with good authentic sushi. I think the employees are Japanese. Had some sushi and sashimi and it was really good and at the right temperature. Normally things can be a bit too warm or even worse, frozen. Real crab in their cali rolls. Nice touch with the real wasabi and the option of having it in the sushi and rolls when they arrive. Cooked foods such as tempura, terriyaki were average. Nothing much to comment about the ambiance as it's basically a small cozy restaurant.

Mid week dinner
Submitted Thursday, July 17, 2008 - 12:21pm [Dine in]

Stop by this place for a mid week meal and surpised to find it quite busy. Nearly 3/4 full at around 7pm which is really good. Most Chinese Restaurants are less than 50%. Seems like a loyal local following. Had the drunken chicken, tofu veggies, steamed seafood on egg whites and the stif fried flounder. All very good. Service was attentive with many wait staff and was also given 10% off. Top it off, you had a selection of baked custard or the red bean soup for dessert. Good value.

Solid Dim Sum
Submitted Monday, July 7, 2008 - 3:33pm [Dine in]

Haven't been to this place for dim sum since they had the dim sum carts. Now they have joined the other restaurants and I like the order system much better as you don't have to wait for your favs to come. The basic dim sums (shrimp, pork, buns) were good as well as their rice noodles. Nothing out of the ordinary except for the mango crepes. A bit on the pricey side for ordinary dim sum but service was good.

Brunch Place
Submitted Wednesday, July 2, 2008 - 3:50pm [Dine in]

Went on Canada Day and not as crowded as some of the popular Kits place which is why it was chosen. Very nice decor and some outside seating. Tried the south african sausage and eggs. Very good but wished the sausages were a bit bigger. Nice touch of free banana bread to start.

Reasonable prices and good service.

Cat's Meow now part of Browns
Submitted Friday, June 13, 2008 - 9:25am [Dine in]

To my surprise the menu has changed and noticed that it looked the same as the Brown's restaurant menu. Apparently they have bought it but don't know if they will change the name. Had one of their rice bowls which was very good. Service was very attentive with drinks re-ordered promptly and bill separated correctly.

Great View, food avg
Submitted Wednesday, May 28, 2008 - 9:49am [Dine in]

The view from the deck is one of the best in the city and a bit of a locals secret. The food is basic pub like with self serve style. Had the chicken burger which was pretty good but price was a bit steep at $10 for this type of place. Can't beat the views with a beer or wine in the late afternoon.

Would probably go just for the drinks rather than the food.

Solid Greek
Submitted Thursday, May 22, 2008 - 3:29pm [Dine in]

Went during in late April for lunch and nice lunch menu with lots of selection. Also they have a special menu and chose the roasted lamb. Very good lunch portion with rice, potato and greek salad. Lamb was average with it a bit dry for my liking. Partner tried the souvlaki and it look really good. Price in the low to mid teens is a bit above average for everyday lunch. Overall a good place to go.

Great lunch place
Submitted Friday, May 16, 2008 - 2:16pm [Dine in]

Went just a bit before the noon hour to beat the rush and good choice. Lots of local office workers but also tourists who are probably just off the cruise ships. Sat upstairs where it's almost like a lounge with some high tables. Really fast service for lunch and had the chicken pot pie. Very good with a flacky pastry top. Drinks refilled promptly. Will visit again as this is a great place for a bevy and food.

Lounge Side
Submitted Monday, May 5, 2008 - 12:18pm [Dine in]

I like the Lounge side as it's much brighter than the restaurant side, full of glass windows and roof. Went there on a weekend and not that busy. Had the Prime Rib which was very good. Vegetable side ordered and seemed like an after thought. Prime Rib was cooked M/R as requested. It could of been a bit juicier as it looked like it was cut and left for a few minutes. Overall very good. Baseball sirlions ordered by some others and they looked very good. Nice and relaxed with very good service.

Nice change of Asian pace
Submitted Friday, May 2, 2008 - 1:58pm [Dine in]

Not many Asian restaurants (other than Japanese and Chinese) on the North Shore. This is more like Tropika where you get a bit of Indonesian, Malay, Singapore dishes. Very nice lunch menu with some tapas and about a dozen mains. Tried the lamb shank which was the most expensive item at $13. Very good, intense flavour. Salads are a bit on small side with nothing too interesting. Appies were very good and side dips were tasty.

Good Mexican food
Submitted Tuesday, April 29, 2008 - 3:17pm [Dine in]

Small menu but the basics were there. Had the Enchilidas which were filled with chicken. Very good and the condiments (sour cream, salsa) added that extra flavour. Good lunch option and a small patio for those nice summer days with a mexican beer. Will try the fish tacos next time. All food seems to be made fresh which is a plus. Will go again.

Newest AYCE in Richmond
Submitted Monday, April 28, 2008 - 2:20pm [Dine in]

There is a definite relationship betweeen new and good AYCE. Seems like they all start off pretty good and then the food and service quality decreases as the restaurant gets older. Tried the 'lite' menu as well as the hotpot. Total was $23. Seems like you can't get the hot pot if you order the deluxe AYCE menu. Basic sashimi selections, like tuna and salmon. Both were of avg quality. Sushi items were very good as well as the cones/rolls. The cooked items like tempura and gyoza were good. The hot pot was very good and for the $3 add on per person, a good value.

Not very comfortable
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 12:11pm [Dine in]

Located in the old 7-11, had dinner on a weekday. Not as busy as I expected thus service was satisfactory. Decor and utensils were a bit off as there were plastic dishes, disposable chop sticks. A bit on the cheap look with bare min decor. Food was pretty good with mostly Northern Chinese Fare. Soup dumplings were very good with thin skins but a bit on the dry side. Fried dumplings were very good. Hot and Sour soup had lots of ingredients in it but had a bitter taste. Tan Tan noodles was the worst dish, noodles too soft and soup had too much seasme/peanut paste. Very good value for what you get and would return to try other items.

Great overall chinese
Submitted Thursday, April 17, 2008 - 3:45pm [Dine in]

Been there several times for Dim Sum, before 11:00am there was a special discount but don't know if that is still on. Great selection, very fresh. Dinner is very good as well with good deals on set menus for 4,6 and 10 people. Parking area seems to be quite large, but during the busy times (weekends) end up parking on the street. Recommended.

OK if you go after 6pm
Submitted Friday, April 11, 2008 - 9:52am [Dine in]

They have a 40% off menu after 6pm so a group of us went at around 8pm. Pretty quiet so service was quite good. Had the salmon sushi, wild which surprised me. Found 2 small soft bones in it, first time ever. Ramen was OK but it tasted like chinese won ton noodles, I think I'll try the soba next time. Rolls were decent. Jugs of beer were $10. OK for the price but wouldn't go during normal hours.

Nice food but too cramped
Submitted Monday, March 31, 2008 - 3:22pm [Dine in]

Arrived at 8:30pm on a Friday night and expected it to be busy but not the 40 min wait kind. Opted to sit at the bar which was very tight but no wait. Ordered the Kettle Valley PG and it was excellent. Lamb Shanks and the mussels were very good while the crab cake was average and overpriced for the portion you receive. Overall very good food.

Good weeknight experience
Submitted Wednesday, March 26, 2008 - 12:26pm [Dine in]

Went there on a week night, shortly after 6pm. As the restaurant was not that busy, we were seated promptly (at a table we requested) and service was well above average. Ordered the calamari, large pasta and medium pizza. The pasta, tagliaterre was excellent in the creamy tomato sauce with mushrooms. Would recommend this versus the spaghetti. The calamari was good and extra sauce was delivered as asked. Pizza is very good, thin crust and dry on the bottom (important). I think a majority comments here are about the service, but my overall experience has been good.

Submitted Tuesday, March 18, 2008 - 4:20pm [Dine in]

Went there for lunch and what a great space with the sunlight coming in from the big floor to ceiling windows. Great lunch selection and a but like a pub with your salads, sandwiches and entrees. Had the prime rib sandwich with yam fries. Very good and I like the way you can change to salad, soup or yam fries (small extra cost). Also tasted the salmon sandwich which was very good. Another person had the steak salad and it seem quite large and it received good comments.

Overall a great place for lunch.

Bad Spring Rolls
Submitted Wednesday, March 12, 2008 - 3:30pm [Dine in]

Taking a look at the menu, the foods looks great. Some good combos like Pho and springrolls or coffee, rice and coffee etc. However the meat in the Pho was not that great as it was a bit chewy. Portions are average size. The Spring Rolls were too hard, I think they must of fried them twice or too long. I tried a piece of the pork chop and it was too salty. Overall, an OK place with quick service but had much better. Prices are pretty average for Pho places, cheap.
