This is currently our favorite Ethiopian restaurant. I think we've eaten at every one in Vancouver. Harambe and Addis are our two favorites. For food, I prefer Addis because they use less oil in the food. I'm vegan and have not had any bad experiences as other posters claim. My food seems to be untouched by any meat or meat products. The Gomen (spinach) is nice and mild. Other Ethiopian restaurants use too much Jalepeno in their Gomen, and Harambe one time accidentally left the whole peppers in my dish which left my mouth quite hot. I really prefer the food at Addis, I don't think you will find better Ethiopian in Vancouver. The food is truly delicious. One other bonus is that they have something called the Addis vegetarian combo (as opposed to their classic vegetarian combo) which has a flavor heavy in Berbere and it's very unique. None of the other Ethiopian restaurants have this particular dish.
Radha is really an experience that should not be missed. It's the sort of place that I find myself very attached to. It's much more then just a regular restaurant. It's clear that the staff puts a lot of heart into the food, they truly care and it shows.
Radha isn't even a regular business, it is a non-profit! It is really hard for me to describe Radha in such a short review. The food is truly spectacular - everything from a Vegan Napolean to a Vegan Ceasar Salad, Vegan Pad Thai and delicious raw Vegan chocolate!!
The staff is warm and friendly and the ambiance really ties the entire place together. Radha is unlike anything else I have ever experienced, and I love it! I have to give Radha a 5 out of 5 on every category. If I gave it even one mark less, I would be incorrect. Try it and you'll understand.
Greens is a great place to go if you are in a hurry or not in the mood to sit down and be served. Their selection is very solid - the only downside is that they do like to use more oil and sugar in many dishes then I prefer.
The prices are really OK and the tastes are really quite good. I was nervous when they moved from across the street but this new location seems to serve them well with the added space.
They did a good job of catering to our special needs diet (we're vegan). Happy go lucky staff with a nice menu & drinks. Definitley a fun place to eat - wish for more veg stuff though! I don't have any dishes to recommend b/c everything they made for us was custom.
This is a great place for tourists. In the summer it's just a wonderfull place to visit and eat at. Everything is very high end - but the prices are just horribly high :(
The fish quality is very fresh, but again is more designed for Tourists who are not familiar with BC Fish.
My Daughter and I simply love this restaurant and frequent it about 2x per week (often as take-out). The best thing about Dharma is the food. You can see all the ingredients layed out at the back of the restaurant. Everything from Pineapples in a wooden barrel to Zucchini and Organic Katsup.
There is really something special about their Tofu however. It's moist, juicy and crumbles in your mouth while tasting fantastic. Red Curry Tofu is my husband's favorite while I prefer the Green Goddess with a side of Tofu Steaks.
We eat a lot of Tofu and travel a great deal. We can say without a doubt that Dharma has the best Tofu we have ever tasted - this coupled with their delicious other flavors has won us over.
Be sure to try their Miso Gravy too!
The only downside is they don't serve Alcohol (darn Buddhists) :)
