I Sushi2568 Arbutus Street, Vancouver

after reading a few reviews of this restaurant i have to chime in and say for much better sushi just head around the corner to Temaki sushi at Arbutus/Broadway, without a doubt some of the best sushi in Vancouver. A recent article written in the Straight compared it to Tojo's for quality. I-Sushi is above average at best, but if you're within a block of Temaki i don't know why anyone would choose this over Temaki.

Temaki Sushi2156 W. Broadway, #2, Vancouver
best quality sushi i've found in Vancouver
Submitted Sunday, February 8, 2009 - 8:18pm [Dine in]

i'm so lucky to live a few blocks from one of the best sushi restaurants in Vancouver. Now i'm sure some will say that i'm biased, but trust me i'm always looking for great sushi, and before i found temaki i used to drive 15 minutes to my favourite sushi stop. that place went downhill and i was on a 3 year search before finding a place two blocks away.

anyway everything from top to bottom is top notch. the chef/owner hillary takes pride not only in great fresh fish, but also in presentation, which imo adds to the experience.

i'd recommend trying lunch first and stay away from the 12-1pm time slot as it is packed Mon-Fri with the local office workers, so after 1pm weekdays or lunch on weekends. Some of my favourite dishes are the tuna/salmon spicy sashimi, with their homemade chili sauce, its excellent. i also love the Saba, pretty much any piece of fish there is excellent, although unagi lacks a bit, i personally like mine hot off the grill.

the service is good and attentive, i can polish off 3-4 glasses of water at lunch as it is constantly refilled. another one of my fav is the amaebi with the deep fried prawn head if you ask for it, amazing!

the rolls are tight, the pieces are perfect and this is the BEST sushi restaurant in Vancouver.

i'd debated for a long time to put this on here, as it may increase the traffic, but i avoid the busy times so it won't bother me one bit.

if you're looking for big warm pieces of fish because you're a college student and quantity is more important than quality you may not like this place, in that case go next door to BC Sushi, or Samurai on Davie or Shabusen.

If you're looking for quality fish at the same prices as most other average places then you'll love temaki.
