well, it's a standard HK Style cafe, with nicer decor than others. It is still cheaper than the one few blocks away. A good selection of food and taste a bit better than OK. service is sometimes slow but overall it's a good place to go to if you don't live in Richmond.
I want to point out that it is standard for most HK Style Cafe to charge an extra $1 for cold drinks, and extra for having the mini meals during dinner hours.
the first time we went we tried to order the wonton noodles special. It was 1pm and they said they have sold out on the special. So we were forced to order something else at regular price. The food was ok, portion was rather small.
The second time we went, I asked the server prior to seating whether they still have that wonton noodles special. The server said yes. (I actually saw the chef making hundreds of wontons.) After we sat down we ordered 2 of those specials, then the boss immediately came and said that they have sold out. We walked out and I don't think I will ever come back again.
Please do not advertise something when all you want is to attract customer and not sell them that product as promised. That is very dishonest.
I've been to this place many times. Usually it involves a REALLY LONG WAIT and them rushing you to leave.
I think it servers the best Shanghai food in Vancouver but I think it involves a lot of MSG. There were over 500 unique food items to choose from the menu.
The service usually sucks - no body tries to greet you when you stand at the door, no one taking orders or bills or what-so-ever. Until one month ago there was a dramatic change to that. Suddenly they were all polite and stuff, I don't know why but it certainly is a good thing if they keep it that way.
The meals are actually cheaper than most places. It's a must-go for me every week. The food comes fast and taste good.
As for the extra dollar thing mentioned by the other reviewer, it is written on the menu. Unlike most places, Kingspark doesn't charge extra dollar for cold drinks, so I think it was OK.
For service, it was pretty standard for most HK cafes. They seat you, take order and give you the bill. Between that they are just running around to serve other customers because it really is a busy place and you can't expect much. Btw, the sofa seats are quite comfortable.
