We Finally Found Good Chinese Food in Surrey!
Submitted Monday, March 23, 2009 - 8:23pm [Dine in]

We ordered the dinner for four for delivery on Sunday night and were really happy with it. We also ordered eggrolls which were awesome. The chop suey was flavorful with tender beef and perfectly cooked veggies, we only wished that there had been more. Our only complaint would be that the almond chicken was pretty greasey. The sweet and sour pork was really lean and a very generous portion. The wontons in the wonton soup seemed to be homemade and were excellent. They looked like they had a lot of shrimp in them; the broth was also very good. The fried rice and chow mein rounded off things well neither were greasey and both were very tastey! Kudos to On Yuen we will be ordering from them again!!

Memphis Blues Barbeque House1629 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver
Loved the Atmosphere Hated The Food
Submitted Tuesday, September 25, 2007 - 7:44pm [Dine in]

We had heard so much about Memphis Blues and were really excited to try it, so when we saw the North Van location we jumped at the chance. We ordered the Memphis feast which gives you a bit of everything. All of the meat with the exception of the sausage was increadibly dry. My fiance and I both choked on the white meat of the chicken. The beef brisket was so dry it was brittle. The BBQ sauce was pretty good, the fries were over cooked and hard, the coleslaw was uninspired and totally lacking flavor ( I Would much rather have whitespots coleslaw any day) The potato salad had a really strange texture but an ok flavour. Will we return? Absolutely not!

Al & Jan's Fish & Chips9014 152nd Street, #201, Surrey
A fish to remember
Submitted Tuesday, February 6, 2007 - 10:32pm [Dine in]

After reading the one review on Al & Jan's when the whole family got a craving for fish we decided to go check it out. The inside is modest, it sort of has that family restaurant feel; but the all you can eat fish and chips for $9.95 with your drink on Monday and Tuesday was awesome. I really don't like fish usually but this fish was outstanding. They didn't drown the fish in their light and crispy batter and the fries appeared to be fresh cut. The whole family loved it! I also have to mention that the services was increadibly good even though the restaurant was packed. IT's well worth giving this place a visit, we'll be back!
