Had some trouble with communicating the pricing
Submitted Thursday, January 24, 2013 - 10:12pm [Dine in]

Came in with a groupon. Most places have fine print about what you can't and cannot order, and it was the first question I asked once we were handed the menus. We were told exactly what was part of the groupon promotion. As it was a $20 coupon, and we were prepared to order more than that as a base price, we asked if we could order from an item that was on promotion, pointing at the item whose promo price was printed clearly on the menu...the waitress quickly said "yes". We ordered the items, but when the bill came, the item on promotion was regular price. We spoke at length with the manager (both sides being equally courteous) on this. His explanation was, understandably, that items on promotion can't be combined with other promotional offers, pointing at the printed text below the menu items. We told him we understood this, which is why we asked the waitress for clarification. He stepped away briefly to confer with the waitress, who confirmed to him that she told us that it would be regular price. Neither me nor my wife heard the "regular price" comment from her initially, and explained it so. We wouldn't have ordered the item had it been regular price.

In any case, he did honor the price in the end, but I'm not sure how to evaluate the service. On the one hand, the wait staff did not explain their promotions clearly, but the management was willing to fill in that gap.

Was driving around looking for something higher class, and found this place. We weren't expecting fusion, but were delighted by the unique items to choose from, like the mango/tuna crepe, and the prosciutto rolls. It was a late dinner, so service was good. My wife and I had two appetizers and two mains for under $60, which is quite reasonable considering the quality of food.

I've been there a number of times...it's not a place where you'd drive out of the way to visit. That's why most folks there are from the neighbourhood (ie. the elderly folks mentioned in another review). My friend who lives in the area likes it for its convenience, so we go return there, for lunch usually. One of the servers seems to greet with less friendliness than the others. But it's a half decent spot if you want something casual, not a chain restaurant, and are in the area.

My wife and I on a whim decided to head out to Steveston for a late supper, and consulted Dinehere to help us make our decision. I'm so glad we did--the reviews here are spot on. I had a lamb sirloin special served with three different sauces, and my wife enjoyed rare duck (first time for having rare poultry, so didn't know what to expect). The presentation of food was enticing, and the variation in flavours in the lamb dish was amazing. The service was unpretentious, and all staff were friendly and welcoming. This is one place we'll definitely be introducing our friends to.
