Only place i'll eat at on the Shore
Submitted Wednesday, January 26, 2011 - 4:10pm [Dine in]

Not to hate on the shore, but it's always been a haven for chains and average family restaurants. Not that going to douche-tastic downtown hipster joints crawling with aspiring brokers/lawyers/eye candy is my preference, but just that a genuine, laid back joint that also has awesome food is a rarity out here.

I love being able to just have a great belgian beer, some frites and cheeses and a bit of good conversation, and this is the spot. Maybe some people need servers all dressed in black outfits serving belini's, thats cool, but I prefer personality and food that doesn't pander to a college student with an expense account.

Hope this inspires more like it down there, I think these guys are getting tired of seeing my ugly mug.

Went by the other day and it looks like they've closed up.

The obligatory 'closed for renovations open soon' sign was up. Another sad casualty but sadder knowing what kind of hype and buzz it had when it opened up. This was a pretty exceptional operation when the original owner (Sherwood) owned it.

Great takeout, kids meal was perfect
Submitted Wednesday, January 26, 2011 - 3:55pm [Take-out]

After trying the Maple Ridge store, I picked up some takeout from the Abbotsford store. Is this company on fire? I think both of these stores just opened this month. I can see why.

Today I had the Singapore cashew noodle box, and 2 kids meals to take home. I got out for under 20 bucks and was full. The kids loved their meals, one was crispy chicken (it's like the overly favourite nuggets, but with actual chicken) and a teriyaki noodle bowl.

Honestly, as a parent that loves food, I don't expect my kids to crave french cheeses, fine wines and unique flavours like I do, but I do expect them to eat well and not just junk and fast food. I was stoked when I saw how much they enjoyed their meal, and partly because it was only 4 bucks per kid. Being successful at feeding them healthy was the bonus.

The staff here were super friendly and genuine, just like the Maple Ridge store, and I always get behind a place when it looks like the staff really enjoy their jobs and are stoked to work there.

Keep up the good work, i'm a hungry guy without the budget to support it, and this place is my new favourite.

Great! Fresh Healthy Tasty and Fast
Submitted Wednesday, January 26, 2011 - 3:35pm [Dine in]

Outstanding. This is clearly where the quick convenient restaurants need to be heading.

My lunch choices on the road have been Timmy's (cardboard), fast food (blech), Subway (crap) and any random joint you run into. All of them cheap, fast, and convenient, but i feel dirty afterwards, and never satisfied.

These guys are doing freshly prepared meals in literally 5 minutes, with none of the typical cheats you see (no scoop and serve premade crap here) in other operations. The flavours are intense, bold, and actually have a depth of flavour and authenticity that impressed me (classically trained chef). The portions are huge, and the selection is decent as well.

I liked being able to negotiate the spice level from mouth on fire to none at all by talking to the servers about which dishes brought the heat, and the knowledge of the staff was far above what I would expect in a quick serve environment.

I'll be getting my takeout from here from now on, at last something I can be proud to bring home to the family.

Good job guys
