Toyotomi Japanese Restaurant4121 Hastings St, Burnaby
Japanese gem in the Heights
Submitted Tuesday, October 6, 2009 - 3:33pm [Dine in]

We went here for dinner on a Monday night and the place was empty so I was surprised they weren't closed! The menu is vast and the prices are weird: often ending in 96, 26, or 36 cents. Something for every price range but alot of very good value dishes so we just ordered & ordered lots of different items and were generally very pleased with the food as well as the service.

I'm not so sure if the place is actually run by japanese but the food is quite good so it doesn't matter. They have daily specials (limited quantities) which are interesting and they have some pricey special rolls which are worth a try if you feel experimental. I had a tuna rice bowl which wasn't quite what I expected because they cooked the tuna all the way through which kind of ruined it.

There are several good Japanese restaurants in Burnaby Heights if you know where to find them. I will return to this place and I took their take-out menu so I'll try that too.

C-Lovers Fish & Chips20251 Fraser Highway, Langley
Good Langley fish'n'chips
Submitted Tuesday, October 6, 2009 - 3:21pm [Dine in]

We've been to the C-Lovers in Coquitlam so we decided to try the Langley location for a business lunch on a Tuesday. I was surprised it was mostly empty but it is a bit off the beaten path. The service was prompt and good and the place was very clean. I started with a chowder which was just so-so but I just wanted something warm to start. We all ordered 2 pcs Halibut lightly battered (not too greasy) and were very happy with the food. All-in-all we were quite happy with this location (not as busy as the Coquitlam location which is nice) and would definitely go back next time we're in the mood for fish'n'chips.

Good N.Langley lunch spot
Submitted Thursday, September 3, 2009 - 3:49pm [Dine in]

Our business recently relocated to Langley so ended up going here.
Liked it enough the first time I went back 4 more times for business lunches. The food is very good and the menu is huge; however, the service is slow - even when the place is less than busy. Actually it always seems less than busy whenever I go yet the service is still slow. Nevertheless the staff is very nice/friendly and food is more than good enough to make up for the slow service. There are tables in an open area and booths along the walls. I prefer the booths - they offer some privacy for a conversation and feels more comfortable.

If you come here for a business lunch just let them know you've got a time limit otherwise I have no problem recommending this place.
