Don't go
Submitted Sunday, August 24, 2008 - 2:41pm [Dine in]

I ordered a dessert with mango, tapioca, coconut and grapefruit. This was the worst dessert I have ever had in my life. The mango bits were too sour and totally not eatible. My friend didn't enjoy her dessert as well. I don't think I will ever return.

Ambiance and service were ok, but with the quality of their dessert, I really have no idea how come they are still around.

After looking at the online menu, my bf and I decided to give this place a try, but we both left disappointed.

Portion was small and the taste of most of the dishes were bland. We tried the oyster motoyaki, black cod, fantastic roll, beef don, chicken skewer and ice-cream tempura.

The fantastic roll was 8 bucks, but it's made of avacado mostly (salmon, cream cheese and other stuff were very tiny in portion).. if I want to get an avacado rolls, I definitely would go somewhere else and got it way cheaper than that..

I don't even want to talk about the ice-cream... a tiny scoop of vanila icecream with a thick and non-cripsy skin.... and there were 3 pieces of corn flakes sitting on the top...

Based on all the good reviews below, I believed this must be a really good AYCE restaurant.

Perhaps I went for lunch, not dinner, selection was very limited. But it's good that they had salmon sashimi for lunch. The chopped scallop cone was nice too, lots of scallop in there.. but other stuff were just average.

The seafood motoyaki wasn't that great... after a few bites, we couldn't eat them anymore... way too greasy.

Service and ambiance were better than most AYCE restuarants, but don't think I will be back anytime soon.

One of my favourite

This place has been one of my favourite for a couple of years already. I love their rice dishes and kimchi hotpot. Quality has been always consistent. One little compliant is sometimes it took them around 15-20 minutes to get the food out.

Just hoping that they could maintain the quality and won't jack up the price anytime soon.

Great food and service!

Came to guu in gastown with my bf last friday. We started off with a couple of cocktail. Their selection was great and my bf loved his Yahman cocktail. I wanted to point out that their Seafood Paella was great even though the portion was a bit too small. Another must-have is the surf clam and scallop carppaccio.

We both left with a very happy tummy! :)

Slow service

Didn't come to this place for 1-2 years already, I was so surprised that around 7 on a weekend, there was only 2-3 tables. Service was extremely slow. I could see that there was only 2 people working in the kitchen, no wonder I had to wait for 20 minutes for my first dish to come.

Food was still ok, I like their kimchi fried rice a lot, but other stuff, like the skewers, were just so so.

love the curry beef
Submitted Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - 5:48pm [Dine in]

I've tried this place a couple times and food was consistently good. My recommendation would be the red curry beef brisket with rice. People might not find the curry authentic, but I like it not spicy and have the taste of coconut milk.

One complaint is that the servers are extremely snotty and look like they don't want to work in there at all. Seriously if you're that unhappy, just go home. Don't ruin my meal.

Nice view and good food

We sat by the window and the view was nice. The brunch that we all had were pretty good, especially the mushroom on flatbread. The spinach and cheese just melt in your mourth.. The benny that i had was ok, nothing too different from the one that I had in other restaurants.

When we got the receipt, we saw that there's a note in there saying that they will adjust their price starting June 10. Hopefully it will still be affordable.

Good Experience

Came to this place for my bf's birthday, food was awesome! We shared the spot prawns, Escargot, lobster and crab bisque, mussels and a chocolate dessert.

Everything tasted good except for the lobster bisque which tasted bland... not really worth the money. Price is very resonable, considering the quality is outstanding.

This place is highly recommended!
